P 6& 7 Christmas Party
On December the 17th,primary 6 and 7 had a Christmas dinner dance. We all helped decorate the hall and choose the food. Some of the choices were pizza, sausage rolls, spring rolls and chicken nuggets. For the drinks , we had fanta, irn bru, shloer and diluting juice. Before the party, we practised lots of traditional dances such as, gay gordons, the circle dance and the dashing white sergeant.
At 6:30 we all arrived at the hall to start the party. We all had tons of fun dancing and eating sweets. After all the traditional dances, we had some modern music to dance to.
The next day, we had another smaller party with everyone in the huts for people who couldn’t make it the night before. We played pass the parcel, corners, musical statues and musical arms. We had lots of fun.

Homework November2
Exploding Volcano
In class we made model volcanoes using a plastic bottle, card, lots of scrap paper and coloured tissue paper. We then exploded them outside by mixing hot water, fairly liquid, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. A chemical reaction took place and CO2 was released. Co2 is a gas which is released during real eruptions. In class we then discussed the variables we would change next time to observe changes in the flow of the ‘lava.’
Energy Bars
Today in in class we made energy bars inspired by our trip to Kilbowie. We learned that flap jacks can be a healthier biscuit option as they contain porridge oats, a natural food which releases energy slowly to make us feel fuller for longer. As they are made with sugar and syrup we learned that that we shouldn’t eat too many of them but one a day could replace a chocolate bar.
‘ I thought they were really nice. They were sticky and I could taste the golden syrup’ Ella
‘They were delicious and scrumptious’ Ross and Lily

Week Beginning 5/10/15
Our topic this term has been space and the solar system. We were trying to understand the distances the planets are from the sun. We used a scale to create a human version of the solar system. We used our paper mache planets when doing so.
This week we’ve been learning about the properties of 3D shapes. If you are describing the properties of a shape you are describing how many corners (vertices), edges and faces it has. This week we learned about 2 new shapes called an octahedron and a tetrahedron. We then constructed one of them from their nets. We would like to investigate more closely different types of polyhedrons.
This is an octahedron
and this is a tetrahedron.
Primary 7 are learning about healthy lifestyles. We learned from Connie McLaughlin, founder of the company ‘Your Inner Buzz,’ some techniques to help us feel more fulfilled and less stressed. We learned that thinking positively, practising visualising and meditating can help improve our mental wellbeing.
Week Beginning 21/09/15
This week we were learning about plural nouns and possessive nouns. If a noun ends in y and there is a constant before the y you drop the y and add ies. e.g The lady had two babies. Some nouns are not plural and they need an apostrophe before the s because they are possesive for e.g the lady’s bag was red.
From now on we will be visiting the high school once a week to continue learning German. Mrs Mullen has been teaching us and we were working on numbers and birthdays. We can now follow their number pattern and can essentially count to 999. To ask someone what is their birthday you would say “Was ist ihre gerburstag?” they would then reply with their own birthday and “Meine Gerburstag ist – zwei und swanzig Mai zwei tousand und veir”.
In maths we have been multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100 and 1000. To divide a decimal you have to move the number to the right as many zeros are in the number that its being multiplied by, e.g if I divided 28.76 by 100 I would move it two times to the right and it would equal 0.2876.
We have been learning about the different types of rocks and the rock cycle. We discovered that there are three types of rock and the keep changing types. The three types of rocks are Igneous, Metamorphic and Sedimentry. We brought in some rocks to look at.
We have just completed our modelling novel ‘Clockwork’ and we all really enjoyed it.
Here is a picture of the posters we made about the rock cycle.
We also wrote narrative stories about meeting an alien. We used lots of the information from our space topic to help us.
