Primary 7 News

056 057 054 053 051 042In primary 7 we have been learning about The Solar System. There are 8 planets in our solar system and we have made a display on our wall of the 8 planets in the order, closest to furthest from the sun. We  have been going to the back of the stage to watch clips about the solar system. We have learned so much about our solar system already!

In spelling we have been working on prefixs, suffixs and root words. Prefixs are letters that you put at the start of a root word ,which changes the meaning. Suffixs are also letters that you put after a root word. Finally root words are the word between prefixs and suffixs.

In Maths we have been doing lots of work on doubling, partioning and fact families. We have also been working on our big maths strategies. Also each day we have been doing our gimme 5’s which is a little booklet with questions that we do each morning.

In P.E we have been working on our fitness. We have been doing stations with activities such as sit ups, press ups, star jumps and squats. We have also been doing our fitness warm up to make sure our muscles are warmed up for our activities.

We are excited to learn so much more about Maths , Spelling and our Solar System. We have enjoyed Primary 7 already and we have just begun!

Class Of 2014- Term 1

Hi and welcome to our blog.  We hope you enjoy reading about what we are learning at school this term.

In P.E we have been doing circuits. We have been focusing on stamina and muscle endurance. Some of the stations we have been doing are tricep dips, sit ups, running, burpies and squats. For our first couple of weeks we were doing games and we also learned some new game ideas to use in the future. Our P.E. lessons have been really good so far and I hope they stay that way! 🙂 By Neve

Our topic that Miss O’Neill introduced is Space. We will have so much knowledge in our heads by the time we are finished. We have learned that there are 8 planets in the solar system as pluto is now a dwarf planet.  By Josh

We are cooking this term.  We are learning about Indian cooking and this week we made a vegetable curry. It was really fun making it but even better tasting it.   For other Indian recipes we are going to be using lots of different spices.  By Brodie

P7 This Week by Grace Sherry, Grace Benson and Abigail

Hello, this is what’s been going on in Primary Seven lately.

On Tuesday we all had to perform a german presentation to the class. The most common thing we were doing wrong was not looking up when we were speaking. I think it was just because we were apprehensive.

We have started planning our leavers assembly, but we can’t tell you anything yet because  it is a surprise, top secret and highly classified information.

In maths we have had a quiz from the High School which was really hard and we were very nervous. We have started doing angles such as; right angles, obtuse angles, acute angles and reflex angles, we can’t wait to find out more as well as this we have been doing data handling.

We have received new books since our last update ,they are called the Thief Lord, Demon Head Master and Santa Maria. We have been using spelling words related to our  substances topic, about smoking, alcohol and drugs misuse.

With our topic of substances we have watched a few videos one we watched on Wednesday and it was a live broadcast so there was interviews of experts which was very interesting and informative.

Lately you can see that Grace Benson and Scott Adamson have been stuck in crutches because of accidents that have happened, we hope that they will be walking about and better soon.

Next week are are going on our final trip which is to  he yellow walk in strathclyde park on wednesday which we are all looking forward to. At the yellow we will be walking 4.5 kilometres which will take us the whole day.

On the 10th and 11th of June we will be going up for our two day visit at the High School, we are all nervous because we don’t know what to expect.
