Welcome back!

Primary 1 have been working very hard since we came back after our Christmas holiday! We have been writing more independent sentences in the morning, all the teachers are very impressed!!

We have also been learning about Scotland and have made some super tartan pictures to go on display.

Maya – Scotland has bag pipes.

Thea – Scotland is a rainy country.

Matthew – Scotland has the highland games.

Position and Movement

We have been learning all about position and movement with Mrs Noble at maths time.

We know that this is all about here things are and the directions they move in.

We have been learning to understand and use lot of positional language in our play and tasks as well as learning how to operate the Bee-Bots.

Trying different fruits

We have been reading a book called ‘Eric Makes a Splash’ in class. In this book Eric can be a little bit worried about trying new things but his friend Flora helps him and encourages him to try.

Today we were tasting some fruits and discussed our likes and dislikes. Mrs Oliphant is very proud of us for trying all of the fruit.

Joe – ‘The apples are delicious’

Robyn – ‘Bananas are healthy’

Zac – ‘I liked all of the fruits’

Oliver – ‘I didn’t like the banana’

Symmetry

We have been learning about symmetry with Mrs Noble.  We know that there has to be the same thing on both sides.  If you put a mirror down the middle of something you can use it to help you create a symmetrical pattern or picture.  We learned that one side is the mirror image of the other side.

Some of the activities we have enjoyed:

Kiara – I enjoyed making symmetrical playdoh bugs

Xavier – I liked making a symmetrical pattern with the peg boards.

Tilly – I used the bricks to make a symmetrical bug.

Tommy – I liked making a butterfly.

Harrison – I enjoyed going outside to see symmetry in nature.

Oliver – I found a leaf that was symmetrical outside.
