Home Economics is a subject where the inter-relationships between foods, diet, health, consumer education and awareness and food-related technology, are studied within the context of the individuals, homes and families.

Faculty of Technologies: Home Economics Department: Aims 

 

• Help pupils explore and expand their knowledge of health and textile technologies, in a range of practical contexts, enhancing their potential to live a healthy lifestyle and make responsible and creative choices about their diet, food, lifestyle choices and fashion;

 

• Build pupil confidence through the development of practical food and textile skills;

 

• Prepare pupils for life after school, by developing a range of problem solving and decision-making abilities;

 

• Equip pupils with useful life-long skills such as: organisation, management of time, money, materials and resources. Through career-focused activities, investigations and practical work; where pupils are taught the essentials of a healthy and creative approach to practical skills development.
