Family Challenge: Dance!

Family Dance Challenge!

Time to get those dancing shoes on, those endorphins pumping and that heart racing!

This week’s family learning challenge will focus on Expressive Arts.

Taking part in dance contributes to your child’s physical education and physical activity.
Your child will develop their technical skills and the quality of their movement, and use their imagination and skills to create and choreograph a dance sequence. Healthy Body equals healthy mind!

We would love the whole family to get involved in this.

Challenge

We are aware that Tik Tok has been a favourite pastime of many of our pupil’s during lockdown.
We would like you either on your own, with your sibling or the whole family to make up a short routine to a dance and send us the short video clip.

Be as creative as you like, you can even dress up for it.
All we ask is you choose a song that is appropriate and does not contain any profanities.

All the clips will be collated to make a short video which will be posted on the school blog.
We will also choose the top three clips as winners.

We look forward to seeing your dance moves and happy faces.

The closing date for the competition is Monday 1st June 2020.

Email: rmeimarouglou@chaplegreen.n-lanark.sch.uk with your enteries.

Get the tunes on and start dancing.

Love,

Mrs Savva

Hello!! Family Learning Challenge.

Good afternoon everyone.  Thanks to all of our fabulous pupils and staff who participated in last week’s Family Learning Challenge.

The aim of the challenge was to allow us to say a distanced “Hello” to each other and to share what we have been grateful for during this period of time.

Our learning community has risen to the challenge and it is great to see all these wonderful faces again albeit only in a photo.

Hope the video has made a few people smile today!

Reading! Reading!Reading!!

Good afternoon,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

I am missing your happy  faces so very much!

So many of you are working hard to complete Sumdog,  Studyladder and Scholastic Reading Pro.

Well Done, the team at Chapelgreen are all very impressed!

Your teachers are working hard to provide lots of fun and interesting activities for you to do at home.

Keep checking the blog for updates.

Reading has been one of my favourite things to do whilst being at home. It helps me to relax and enter other worlds, whilst getting to know new characters.

I know many of you are Roald Dahl, J.K Rowling  and David Williams fans and your parents have informed me that you have been reading your favourite books at home.

You can write a review of your favourite book or complete a visualisation of your favourite character and send it to : rmeimaroglou@chapelgreen.n-lanark.sch.uk

I would love to see them!

We have also provided you with a wonderful online reading scheme to use at home. Scholastic Reading Pro.

I see many of you have accessed it and have completed the quizzes. Great Job.

This week I would like everyone to login and have a short reading session. There are so many fabulous books for you to work through.  I will have a look to see how you are all getting on.

You each have books assigned to you. Enjoy and happy reading!!

Love,

Mrs Savva

Fairtrade Family Challenge – Competition Time!!

Competition Time!!!!

Watch the video linked here ‘Guardians of the Rainforest’: https://schools.fairtrade.org.uk/resource/guardians-of-the-rainforest/

It follows the life of a boy named Beshey who lives and farms in the Gola Rainforest . If you are in P1-3 you could ask an adult to sit with you and help you take notes.  If you are P4-7 try to take notes on your own whilst watching the video.

What do you see in the Gola Rainforest?

How does Beshey live and farm?

Where does he live?

Your task this week is to create a picture of the rainforest/visualizer from what you have learned from Beshey living in Gola. Try to put in as much detail as you can. You can label your drawing.

We will be looking for the most creative and detailed drawings and visualizers.

This is a competition so do your best!!

Ask an adult to upload your pictures to the blog as a reply to this post. We will judge as a staff and a winner from each stage will be given a certificate and house points.

Have fun!! Remember to use the video to help create your picture/ visualizer.

CLOSNG DATE FOR ENTRIES – Monday 4th May 2020

Please send entries to : rmeimaroglou@chapelgreen.n-lanark.sch.uk

Family Learning Challenges

We know how hard it can be when you have more than one child working on different things during the course of the week. To try to address this and to perhaps help ease some of the difficulties, we have developed some family learning challenges.

These challenges reflect the work we have started in school and work that had been planned as part of our pupil committees, assemblies and curricular developments this term.

We will issue these challenges once a week and we would love to encourage you and your child/ren to participate together. This work can be completed in place of a piece of topic work and the class teachers will adjust their weekly planning to reflect this.

As we have a wide range of ages within our school, we will provide a choice of two tasks within the challenge for most weeks. You can, however, choose the task which you feel is most appropriate for you and your family. (Or just the one you like the sound of most!)

Certificates and points to be won for the weekly challenge winners

This week’s challenge follows our Fairtrade theme and will be posted on the school blog shortly.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact.

rmeimaroglou@ chaplegreen.n-lanark.sch.uk

Hope you are continuing to stay safe and well.

Fairtrade Family Learning Fun

Good morning,

I hope you are all  safe and well.  Before the holidays we were learning about Fairtrade in assembly and in class. We even made Fairtrade banana bread and cookies.  They were delicious!

As we cannot continue this learning  in school for the moment we would like the pupils to engage in some family learning at home.

Family Learning Challenge

This challenge can be completed as a family if you have more than one child at the school.  Choose whichever activity you find most suitable for your family situation and the resources and time you have on hand.

1- Watch the video clip using the link below…

https://schools.fairtrade.org.uk/resource/fairtrade-story-a-fair-tale/

2 – Look at the home learning activity grids attached to this post and choose an activity to complete.  Please note that there are two grids, one for younger children and one for older children.  You can choose one activity from either grid depending on what suits you best as a family.

3 – Once you have completed your challenge, depending on what you have done, you can email it to:

rmeimaroglou@chaplegreen.n-lanark.sch.uk

Or feel free to  post a picture in a reply to this blog post.  Whatever is easier for you.

Indoor and Outdoor Play- Early Level

I hope our pupils have had a wonderful Easter break. I am sure they will have had plenty of opportunity for lots of play both indoor and outdoor, especially with this lovely weather.

Play is an essential part of every child’s life and is  vital for the enjoyment of childhood as well as social, emotional , intellectual and physical development.

I have attached a link to a play grid for early years. This will be updated every fortnight.

If you would like to email any photographs of your children completing these activities these will be uploaded to our school blog. rmeimaroglou@chapelgreen. n-lanark.sch.uk

Stay safe and well. Happy playing!!
