SPORTS DAY POTTED SPORTS 2021

Thank you to the rain that stayed away and allowed us to stay dry during our Sports Day events last Wednesday.  Lots of fun was had!  Here are some potted sports and team photographs taken on the day.  Well done to all those who wore their house colours.

Virtual Sports Day!!

Monday 22nd June is the big day!  We would love all of our pupils and families to participate.  Chapelgreen and Banton Primaries have entered a joint team for this event.

This picture tells you the timeline for the day.

There are 7 events.  This picture tells you what the events are and what equipment you can use.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a printer to print off the scorecard.

You can use a pencil and paper to record the scores and send them in to Mrs Savva (Meimaroglou) via email.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Above all, this is a fun event and an opportunity for our pupils and families to get outside and enjoy themselves.

Remember, EVERYONE can participate and ALL scores will be counted.  So, grab your trainers and get the whole household involved in some active outdoor fun and games.

Scores can be emailed to Mrs Savva (Meimaroglou).

Active Schools are also encouraging you to tweet photos of you participating to @NLActiveSchools using #NLSportsDay.

There is a chance to win £50 of sporting equipment for the school.

Sumdog NLC Contest

Woohoo!  NLC Sumdog Contest!

Fri 5th 8am- Thurs 11th 8pm June

Come on Chapelgreen!  We are great at Sumdog!

Let us work together and top the leaderboard!

How it works

  • To take part, students simply play Sumdog’s maths games.
  • Scores are based on accuracy, and questions tailored to each student’s level – so everyone has a fair chance.
  • Each contest runs from 8am Friday to 8pm the following Thursday – but you can play at any time during this period.

Rewards for students

  • As a reward for taking part, each student who answers 100 questions will receive an item for their Sumdog House.

Best Results

  • When we work as a team and each and every pupil plays for at least 20-30 mins each day we get the best results.
  • If you play every day, including Saturday and Sunday, we’ll get the best results.

Friday Challenge-CCK Virtual Relay- Friday 5th June

Fun Friday Challenge

CCK North Lanarkshire Active Schools Virtual Relay Challenge

This week we would love if you would participate in the Active Schools Virtual Relay.

All you have to do is walk, run, scoot or cycle a distance of your choice and send in your distance so it can be collated. The school will then send the totals to Active Schools Co-ordinator who will work out which city we have managed to travel to.

As a small school, we know that we might not travel as far as some other large schools but we are always up for a challenge. All pupils and staff are encouraged to participate.

So, lace up the trainers, get on the walking shoes or look out the bike or scooters and get involved.

We would encourage you to take photos and tweet them using the hashtag #CCKVirtualRelay and #NLActiveSchools and also remember to tag us @Chapelgreen _PS

Once you are done either tweet the distance using @NLActiveSchools or if you prefer, email the distance to Mrs Savva rmeimaroglou@chapelgreen.n-lanark.sch.uk
Take a look at the poster attached to find out more details. Should you have any questions please just get in touch with Mrs Savva.

Family Challenge: Dance!

Family Dance Challenge!

Time to get those dancing shoes on, those endorphins pumping and that heart racing!

This week’s family learning challenge will focus on Expressive Arts.

Taking part in dance contributes to your child’s physical education and physical activity.
Your child will develop their technical skills and the quality of their movement, and use their imagination and skills to create and choreograph a dance sequence. Healthy Body equals healthy mind!

We would love the whole family to get involved in this.

Challenge

We are aware that Tik Tok has been a favourite pastime of many of our pupil’s during lockdown.
We would like you either on your own, with your sibling or the whole family to make up a short routine to a dance and send us the short video clip.

Be as creative as you like, you can even dress up for it.
All we ask is you choose a song that is appropriate and does not contain any profanities.

All the clips will be collated to make a short video which will be posted on the school blog.
We will also choose the top three clips as winners.

We look forward to seeing your dance moves and happy faces.

The closing date for the competition is Monday 1st June 2020.

Email: rmeimarouglou@chaplegreen.n-lanark.sch.uk with your enteries.

Get the tunes on and start dancing.

Love,

Mrs Savva

Hello!! Family Learning Challenge.

Good afternoon everyone.  Thanks to all of our fabulous pupils and staff who participated in last week’s Family Learning Challenge.

The aim of the challenge was to allow us to say a distanced “Hello” to each other and to share what we have been grateful for during this period of time.

Our learning community has risen to the challenge and it is great to see all these wonderful faces again albeit only in a photo.

Hope the video has made a few people smile today!

Fairtrade Family Challenge – Competition Time!!

Competition Time!!!!

Watch the video linked here ‘Guardians of the Rainforest’: https://schools.fairtrade.org.uk/resource/guardians-of-the-rainforest/

It follows the life of a boy named Beshey who lives and farms in the Gola Rainforest . If you are in P1-3 you could ask an adult to sit with you and help you take notes.  If you are P4-7 try to take notes on your own whilst watching the video.

What do you see in the Gola Rainforest?

How does Beshey live and farm?

Where does he live?

Your task this week is to create a picture of the rainforest/visualizer from what you have learned from Beshey living in Gola. Try to put in as much detail as you can. You can label your drawing.

We will be looking for the most creative and detailed drawings and visualizers.

This is a competition so do your best!!

Ask an adult to upload your pictures to the blog as a reply to this post. We will judge as a staff and a winner from each stage will be given a certificate and house points.

Have fun!! Remember to use the video to help create your picture/ visualizer.

CLOSNG DATE FOR ENTRIES – Monday 4th May 2020

Please send entries to : rmeimaroglou@chapelgreen.n-lanark.sch.uk

Family Learning Challenges

We know how hard it can be when you have more than one child working on different things during the course of the week. To try to address this and to perhaps help ease some of the difficulties, we have developed some family learning challenges.

These challenges reflect the work we have started in school and work that had been planned as part of our pupil committees, assemblies and curricular developments this term.

We will issue these challenges once a week and we would love to encourage you and your child/ren to participate together. This work can be completed in place of a piece of topic work and the class teachers will adjust their weekly planning to reflect this.

As we have a wide range of ages within our school, we will provide a choice of two tasks within the challenge for most weeks. You can, however, choose the task which you feel is most appropriate for you and your family. (Or just the one you like the sound of most!)

Certificates and points to be won for the weekly challenge winners

This week’s challenge follows our Fairtrade theme and will be posted on the school blog shortly.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact.

rmeimaroglou@ chaplegreen.n-lanark.sch.uk

Hope you are continuing to stay safe and well.
