Balmalloch Primary School and Nursery Class is an Eco-School
In November 2022, Balmalloch Primary School and Nursery Class have been awarded our ninth Eco-Schools Scotland Green Flag for showing commitment to Learning for Sustainability and care for the environment.

As part of our Eco Schools Journey we follow the seven elements beginning with creating an eager pupil led Eco Committee.
Meet our Eco Committee
This years committee has been made up of pupils from P4B.
During our most recent Eco journey the Eco Committee created their Action Plan and have been working hard on three Eco-Schools topics.
LITTER BIODIVERSITY HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Here are some great examples of the work we have carried out. We increased Biodiversity by creating our own bird houses from recycled materials and took part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch carrying out our own bird surveys.
We have also worked hard to minimise the litter and tackle dog fouling around our school grounds and community. We took part in the Clean Up Scotland and Keep Scotland Beautiful Campaigns.
Here is our Eco Code. We created it in the style of an Acrostic Poem.
Balmalloch Primary School and Nursery Class have contributed to the work so far in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. We chose to focus on Goal 15: Life on Land. As a committee we work to protect the natural environment and habitats around us.
We work closely with the local community and partners to keep our environment safe and clean for all. Our aim is to make a positive impact on a local scale and transfer this to a more global scale too. One example is the work to plant more trees in partnership with the Woodland Trust in the attempt to fight Climate Change.
