Developing the Young Workforce

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) aims to prepare learners for their future pathways and the transition into the world of work. It builds on the foundations already in place through Curriculum for Excellence and is relevant from early years to high school and beyond. One example is the entitlement for all children and young people to experience opportunities to develop skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work. Our pupil voice group will look at ways we can develop this in the classroom. The pupils will help create and deliver a World of Work Week in term 3. This year, we have introduced social enterprise as an aspect of this group. The pupils will explore this more throughout the year.

In conjunction with Kilsyth Academy and local business – BAM Nuttall, we follow a Skills Framework across our school. The framework is displayed in every classroom and classes work towards following the framework throughout the school year. You can have a look at it here – SKILLS FRAMEWORK
