For our final leadership academy the pupils enjoyed preparing a treat of strawberries and bananas dipped in melted milk chocolate. They also got to try white and dark chocolate. All the ingredients were Fairtrade. Pupils also learned about the importance of Fairtrade and how it helps farmers around the world. Primary 2 had a fantastic trip with the sun shining for us at Clyde Valley Family Park. They enjoyed a trip on the train stopping to feed the llamas. The children had a lovely day on Friday and they worked very hard to make their flower pots look beautiful. The children have really surprised me with how much they have enjoyed this project. They have weeded the boxes, filled the base with rocks to allow drainage, put in compost, placed the flowers to check if they were evenly spread and the colours mixed, then planted and watered them. This week Primary 3 have been learning about the organs in the human body. We enjoyed looking at a model, taking it apart, putting it back together again and discussing the organs that we recognised. We created graffiti boards of facts we discovered after reading non-fiction books. We also revised the bones in our skeleton by playing a lotto game and creating What Am I? cards. We have been learning all about toys from the past. The children have brought in lots of interesting toys that their families have kept over the years. The children have enjoyed looking at the differences and talking about different materials used. We looked carefully at the differences in teddy bears from the past and present.
Last week Primary 2 were excited to share their learning on measure and weight with their parents. We had 4 stations set up and it was a very hands on activity for all! The children loved having their family members come to class today and help them with their learning. The children planted pepper seeds so that they can grow peppers to help them with their cooking lessons. Bravo to our French Champions today! We have a lovely afternoon showing our invited guests everything that we have learned this year, singing songs and practising taking orders in French. Thank you to everyone that came along. I hope you were impressed with our superstars, I certainly was. Merci!
After 20 days in our care, today was time for our now adult butterflies to be released into the wild! We had 10 beautiful and healthy butterflies all of which survived the metamorphosis from caterpillar. I think our net was too comfortable for them as they didn’t want to leave! After some coaxing they flew up and away to find some flowers to get a much needed nectar snack. 🌺🌼🌸 Well
