Description of methodologies used in the creation or definition of a multimedia application, including:
o WYSIWYG editors and text editors to create web pages
o authoring software to create multimedia applications
o presentation software to create presentations
- What You See Is What You Get – this software allows the designer to see how the multimedia application will look as it is being developed. This allows for easy checking of fonts and graphic placement. (Word, Dreamweaver)
- Text Editors – most multimedia applications can be “coded” by hand, this is where the programmer changes tags and commands to make the changes to the application. These changes are often hard to visualise until experience is gained. (notepad)
- Authoring software – This is dedicated software that is used to assemble all the media elements before creating the application. They can use a verity of program codes, scripting or even icon based methods to create complex pieces of work without programming code. They create stand alone programs
- Presentation software – this is used to create an often linear sequence of slides that are designed to illiterate a point. Hyperlinks and interaction can be added by the designer. These often require a viewer to be displayed properly but can be saved as images or web pages.
