The National Healthcare Weekend on the 4th and 5th November is taking place at the University of Stirling: 7 conferences on different specialities in the same location on the same day.
Please note that these events are likely to fill up quickly!
It is a highly valuable opportunity for students to network with a variety of healthcare professions, learn about work experience opportunities and how to make a successful application.
Registration is £25 for students on the Saturday conference and there is an optional UCAS lecture available on the Sunday for each speciality.
Thank you to everyone who donated money to the Spina Bifida zip-slide event today. An exciting and new way for us to raise money – nearly £600 for a worthy cause.
The Guidance Team are organising a trip to the Higher Education Fayre set up by UCAS on Sept 14 – 9 am to 11 am..
UCAS exhibitions are a unique opportunity for students – and anyone supporting them – to explore the wide range of opportunities available after school or college, all in one setting. Whether they’re interested in applying to uni or looking at alternative options, they’re sure to find something that appeals to them!

On Saturday 17th June a group of young people who attend an after school group with Bellshill Youthwork – Community Learning and Development team – took part in the Mini Mudder obstacle course at Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfriesshire. Mini mudder is a 1 mile run where young people tackle various muddy and wet obstacles and challenges and get round the course by working as part of a team. The group consisted of 1st year pupils from both Bellshill Academy and Cardinal Newman HS and they are aiming to complete a North Lanarkshire Challenge Award.
CNHS and Bellshill Youthwork Team are extremely proud of everyone in the group, their attitude and belief in themselves in tackling this course, not just as an individual but as part of a team, was outstanding. They worked well together, listened to instructions, took part and helped each other around the course and most of all they had an amazing amount of fun. It is great to see the pupils from two schools bond together on the day, make new friends and face difficult challenges together.
Other photos can be viewed in the facebook page – Bellshill Youthwork.
Our very 1st Parent Council quiz night was a resounding success.
Parents, staff and former pupils met up in Holy Family Church hall for a 40th Anniversary fundraising event. We had a quiz, raffle ticket bingo, raffle prizes and a great deal of hilarity.
A big thank you to all involved – we raised £751.79.
Staff and pupils participated in Glasgow’s Race For Life this morning. A great opportunity and experience for our young people, the teachers enjoyed their morning too. Well done to all who took part.
Today our S1 were challenged to plan, design and build a floating garden. Each group had to produce a cost effective, sustainable way of growing the maximum amount of food. Many thanks to @AmdMcGinty for the superb prizes of family passes to the Glasgow Science Centre, the pupils were delighted! @gsc1 A massive thank you also goes to our STEM Ambassadors Carol, Emma & Peter for their contributions today, it was very much appreciated.
S1 STEM day awards….best design…..most innovative…..best individual performance.
This years’ welcome disco saw 124 P7 pupils come together to have fun in CNHS. Music, dancing, games and a photo booth were just some of the highlights.
