Viking Drama with Primary 1-4
As part of their Viking topic, Primary 1-4 have been using facial expression, body language, thought bubbles and speech bubbles in their Still Images to show what their characters are thinking and feeling. Here are some photographs of the children in action! Note: the theme was ‘A Viking Raid’ – that’s why we have some scary, angry faces! Â See if you can tell where the Vikings might be raiding!
Calderbank Celebrate Robert Burns!
On Monday, the whole school celebrated Burns Day and all things Scottish! The children recited Scottish poems, sang Scottish songs and even took part in some Scottish country dancing! In the afternoon, we had some haggis, neeps and tatties! Yum yum!
Well done to all of the children for their performances today! Your hard work definitely paid off! A special thanks to Mrs Young and Primary 5/6/7 for organising and hosting today’s event, and to the catering staff and support staff for preparing today’s delicious meal! A big thanks also goes to all of the families that came to support us today, and to Mr Bissett, our resident piper!
Scratch Animation and Programming
Primary 5/6/7 have been working with Mr Bissett, using Scratch software to design and animate sprites. Ben and Liam designed several ‘costumes’ for a Spongebob character, so that they could program it to walk across the screen, turn to the user and say ‘Hello’. Click on the link below and hit the green flag to watch their animation at work.
Well done boys! Keep up the good work!
Using PicCollage in RME
Primary 3/4 are learning all about Islam this term and were using PicCollage on the iPads on Tuesday, to share their learning on Islamic practices and places of worship.
Here are some examples of their work!
Primary 1-4’s Trip to Summerlee!
On Monday, Primary 1-4 and Primary 5-7 went to SummerLee to take part in some Scottish workshops! Miss Ross and P1-4 were learning all about the journey of wool and how kilts were made! We even got the chance to weave some wool to make a pattern of our own.
Here are some pictures of us in action! After our workshop, we embraced the great Scottish weather and had some fun outdoors in the SummerLee park!
