Literacy includes reading and writing but is underpinned by speaking and listening. To quote the educationalist James Britton: “Reading and writing float on a sea of talk.”

Learning English is about learning to use language to communicate as readers, writers, speakers and listeners.

In P4/5 we aim to help pupils become independent readers and writers, confident speakers and active listeners

A big welcome from Primary 4/5 to our fantastic class blog! There are 23 hardworking pupils in our class, 11 girls and 12 boys and our teacher is Mrs Manning. We work really well as a team and always try to be supportive of each other. 

We hope you will log in regularly to keep up to date with the exciting learning going on in our classroom. Weekly homework will also be posted on the blog and reminders of events in the school. We will also be celebrating our achievements both at home and in school on our class blog so please send in medals and certificates.
