Good Morning

Good morning everyone. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the beautiful weather!

Just a reminder that our topics for this term are Gardening and The World of Work.

Some gardening activities could include weeding, planting, raking, sweeping, painting furniture/ fence/ etc. My son painted some rocks to make a rainbow rockery.

I saw a lovely idea online of families having their own garden parties- decorating the garden with bunting, playing games, having a picnic/ barbeque, treasure hunts.

World of Work activities include everyday lifeskills and household tasks- helping with online shopping orders, unpacking shopping, using the hoover, washing dishes, setting the table, preparing meals and snacks, pouring drinks, etc.

As always, these are suggestions of things to do and are not compulsory. If anyone would like to ask for anything specific, please e-mail me:

Take care,

Good Morning Arran and Bute Class

Good morning everyone.  This would have been the last day before the Easter holidays for the pupils so I’ll leave a couple of activities here incase anyone is looking for ideas over the holidays.

We watch Newsround every morning to have an awareness of what is happening in the world- the BBC post a short video every day but also have longer videos about a range of topics on their website that some may be interested in.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/news/watch_newsround

I have also found a nice Science activity which is very relevant just now- ‘Grow your own rainbow.

Another activity which a lot of people are sharing is creating a ‘family handprint cast.’

Recipe:

500g plain flour

250g salt

250ml of water (add more if needed)

Roll out and insert handprints

4 hours on lowest setting in oven

Any paints work well

Hope the weather stays nice for the next two weeks and you all get to enjoy some family time together. Remember you can e-mail me with questions or requests: gw09mchargdiane@ea.n-ayrshire.sch.uk

Take care,

Diane 😀

Online activities

This is a site we use in Arran and Bute Class quite often. The company have offered a free subscription for 90 days if anyone is interested. It has games which can be controlled by touch/ switch/ mouse, cause and effect activities, stories and creative games (art/ music/etc).

Copy the link at the bottom into the address bar and the voucher code is Games100.

If anyone would like to use this and needs any support, please e-mail me

Art Competition

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all well.  It looks like another nice day so I hope you’re managing to make the most of the weather- I have been enjoying a walk in the fresh air every day.

I have attached details of an art competition if anyone would like to take part.

You could use anything to make a picture- pens, paint, collage materials, leaves/etc. from the garden.

All activities are optional if anyone is looking for ideas- no pressure to complete.

Sensory Easter Activities

This is a link to a range of Easter activities for some ‘Hands on’ fun.  My favourites are rolling eggs in paint and tasting Easter chocolate!

Cosmic Yoga

Hi everyone, this is not the typical yoga we do in class (I’m working on copying this onto powerpoint as we use different software in school) but I have been doing it with my son and there are a range of lovely, engaging activities.  I have listed a few below but if you search Cosmic Yoga in youtube, plenty of different themes come up.

Hope everyone is keeping well and remembering to have fun!
