Term 1
Explorers Curriculum Outline Term 1 25-26
We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming back our pupils, as well as getting to know our new starters. It has been wonderful to see how quickly the children are settling into The Explorers, and we have loved getting to know them better over the past few weeks. We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead, filled with new learning opportunities.
For our topic, we have been learning about people who help us. We learned about the roles of the emergency services, what an emergency is and who we can go to for help in school and the wider community.
Term 2
Explorers Curriculum Outline Term 2 25-26
Over the autumn months, we have been learning about a range of important cultural and historical events. We have discussed and taken part in activities linked to Diwali, Bonfire Night, Halloween and Remembrance Day. Through these celebrations, we have explored different traditions, customs and the significance of each event.
Some of our Explorers took part in Judo, working with experienced instructors from The Loretta Doyle Judo Foundation. All pupils’ who took part were awarded with a red belt at the end of the block.
Term 3
Explorers Curriculum Outline Term 3
This term, the Explorers have been learning about Scotland as part of their topic work. We explored Scotland’s tourism and discovered some of its most famous landmarks and attractions. We also learned about well-known Scots poets, such as Robert Burns. As part of our learning, we made our own Scottish foods and learned traditional Scottish songs.
We were privileged to attend a traditional Burns Supper, where we recited “The Selkirk Grace,” sampled Scottish cuisine, listened to Scottish poetry and music, and enjoyed watching traditional Scottish dancing.
