September Update
K’Nex Challenges – Linked to our Scotland and France topic, we were challenged to create some famous landmarks and monuments from our chosen country. Working together as a team, we addressed any design problems as we went and created our structures that met the success criteria.
Maths Week Scotland – We celebrated Maths Week Scotland with a variety of maths activities throughout the week including artwork, live interviews with people who work with maths every day and lots of games. Our favourite was a problem solving game we found online!
Music – Throughout term 1, we have been working on our music skills. This has involved responding to music, follow a piece of music and even creating some of our pieces of music! It’s been lots of fun!
Outdoor Learning – We have been using natural materials found in our school grounds to create some art work. We took inspiration from Mandala artwork and worked with our friends to create symmetrical patterns using a variety of materials.
October Update
Outdoor Learning – We’ve been having lots of fun using the loose parts for a variety of team challenges. We worked together to build dens and were able to find lots of different uses for the loose parts.
Topic – As we continue to learn about Scotland and France, we have been beginning to work on mapping skills. We used atlases to deepen our understanding and plot places of interest on a map.
Halloween – We celebrated Halloween in our class with an afternoon of fun activities. As well as dressing up, we decorated biscuits, played games and even made some ‘mummies’ in a team challenge!
November Update
Maths – We have been describing the properties of 3D objects and exploring their nets. We applied our knowledge to a variety of active challenges.
Topic – There has been an incredible amount of hard work put into our information posters to conclude our Scotland and France topic. All groups worked well together to compile their information and did a fantastic job of planning and delivering a group talk to their peers.
HWB – Through out Emotion Works programme, we have been discussing the body sensations we feel when experiencing emotions. We used this information in a group art challenge to display these sensations around the body.
December Update
We’ve been enjoying the lead up to the Christmas holidays with lots of festive fun in school. During a K’Nex challenge, we worked together with friends to create some Christmas structures such as trees, snowflakes, presents and candy canes. In music, we learned how to play ‘Jingle Bells’ on glockenspiels. Our Christmas party and Christmas lunch was also lots of fun! To top it all off, there was lots of excitement when all of the P7 pupils received their leavers hoodies! We can’t wait to wear them to school in the new year!
