At St Francis our children’s health and wellbeing is paramount to their education. We pride ourselves on our nurturing learning environment, where pupils have the opportunity to build positive relationships within a supporting and supported community. Our Health and Wellbeing programmes focus on a number of areas which give children a wealth of information which helps them make informed choices in life:
mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing
planning for choices and changes
physical education, activity and sport
food and health
substance misuse
sexual health and relationships, through God’s Loving Plan.
The purpose of health and wellbeing is to help every child and young person to feel cared for and valued as an individual. Learning about health and wellbeing will help them cope with uncertainties in life, build resilience to have confidence to try new and different things and make the most of opportunities that come along.
Sometimes pupils may experience change in their lives and may benefit from additional nurture support. We are lucky to have a Nurture class for pupils at the infant stage. This is a form of early intervention designed to help address difficulties which would adversely affect a child’s Health and Wellbeing and impact on their attainment in school.
You can support your child by visiting Parentzone’s Supporting health and wellbeing at home section. This has simple ideas to support your child in learning about health and wellbeing through everyday activities.
