Rights Respecting Schools

The Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) is run by UNICEF UK and is based on the principles of the UNCRC  – the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The initiative encourages schools to not only learn about children’s rights but also to encourage respect in all school relationships.

At Moorfoot Primary we have a Global Goals and Rights Respecting Group which is run by pupils. The pupils organise events, support younger pupils’ understanding and use ‘Moorfoot’s 5 Star TV’ as a way of informing others about the UNCRC. If you would like to watch 5 Star TV it can be found here: Moorfoot’s 5 Star TV

In March of 2019 we were awarded the Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award. This is the highest award and recognises our commitment and achievement in developing a rights respecting community promoting active global citizenship.
