We recognise that outdoor learning promotes curiosity and allows children to build confidence, self-esteem, language, and problem-solving skills in a natural environment. At Bluebird Family Centre, we deeply value outdoor learning and we ensure that every child has ample opportunities to engage in rich, outdoor play. Our outdoor space is designed to spark a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world, offering chances to explore mud kitchens, build dens, and develop physical skills.
We value the opportunities that children have to take and manage their own risks, by having opportunities to climb and balance across different slopes and surfaces children are experiencing opportunities to build resilience, self-confidence and problem solving skills.
We are passionate about our children having an understanding of the world and for this to be carried out in outdoor experiences such as growing our own fruits and vegetables for snack, nurturing and looking after our plants and wildlife as well as showing curiosity and enquiry for the habitats and creatures around us.
Our outdoor space also provides a platform for children to explore and experience the effects of creating a sustainable environment. By using natural materials within our mud kitchen and loose parts area, alongside growing our own produce and looking after local habitats and wildlife this is supporting our children to understand the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling, encouraging care and responsibility of looking after our environment.
These experiences foster a love for nature and provide essential life skills that help children thrive.
