At Bluebird Family Centre children will have many opportunities to develop their Literacy skills, children will benefit from a range of experiences to support their development in this curricular area.

 

Language rich environments, stories and social interactions support children to build and deepen their vocabulary. Word Aware training ensures that staff members are skilled at supporting children with developing an understanding of language and developing vocabulary using words in the appropriate context through experiences such as ‘word of the week’ stories and group discussions.

Phonological Awareness training ensures that our staff members are skilled at supporting children  with early reading skills through stories, rhymes, singing and when talking and listening.

Children will have maximum experiences to develop early writing skills  across the centre. Resources such as mark making, play dough, cutting, malleable resources and small world can support children with early writing skills.
