Some of Glasgow’s children and young people (CYP) are cared for outwith Glasgow City Council and are educated in other local authority educational provisions. A small number may be educated in external private purchased provisions.
In these cases, Glasgow Education Services, as the CYP home authority, maintains responsibility for the CYP educational planning and championing positive educational outcomes for them. It is imperative that Education and Social work colleagues work together to best support the needs of our children.
Requesting involvement from Glasgow Educational Psychology Service (GEPS) for children and young people cared for and educated outwith Glasgow
For children and young people who are cared for and educated outwith Glasgow city Council, a request for involvement from Glasgow Educational Psychology Services can be made using this GEPS referral form.
Request for GEPS involvement may be for the following reasons:
- To facilitate effective planning, communication and support, in accordance with the GIRFEC National Practice Model, which provides explicit structures and frameworks for collaborative, multi-agency work.
- To support the assessment and identification of barriers to learning for CYP and to work collaboratively between agencies, and across local authorities, to overcome these.
- To gather views of Children and Young People
- To plan and support transitions.
- To support multi-agency working.
The completed request for involvement form should be sent to psychologicalservicesouth@education.glasgow.gov.uk. We endeavour to have an initial response to this request within 5 working days.
