25 Magic Marzipan

Marzipan is a mixture of sugar and ground almonds and is used at Christmas time to decorate cakes and make sweets. The first step in making marzipan is to harvest the almonds.  Almonds grow on trees and the trees need to be shaken to remove the nuts from the trees.

Once the nuts are shelled and dried they are ready to grind into a almond flour which is them mixed with sugar to make the marzipan.

So, when you eat your Christmas cake today you are eating a international product with ingredients from around the world. All the ingredients in your Christmas dinner have been produced by farmers and we hope you enjoy eating them!
