We made up questions for our parents to answer.

Q How much chocolate to you eat per week?                                                      A 1 bar of chocolate a day.

Q How many fruit and vegetables do you eat in one day?                         A About 3 portions a day.

Q Do you always eat breakfast?                                                                                A Yes.

Q How often do you eat dairy?                                                                                  A Everyday.

Q  How often do you eat Protein?                                                                             A Everyday.

We are going to think of ways to improve our diets and give advice to our parents.

LI: To write a book review

Stupid trousers by Susan Gates

This book is about a boy who was called Ross. He was going to his big sister’s wedding as a page boy but he hated the clothes he was to wear but most of all he hated the trousers.

I would recommend this book to everyone in my class, room 6 and for adults.

This book is for 5-13 year olds.

This book is suitable for children.

Views of North Berwick & Vicinity (1)

Scran will be working closely with the P5 class at  Law Primary School in North Berwick throughout next week. Together we will be examining lots of local content and weaving what we find into our learning journeys. Views of North Berwick

As well as being digital, weather permitting, we’ll be taking to the skies with our camera & K.A.P. kit. So please, fingers crossed for fair weather over East Lothian.

Many of the resources we will use in class come from  East Lothian Museums Service who are contributors to the collections on Scran. For example, this rather quaint souvenir is leather bound and originally contained 15 black & white photographs with tinted skies. It was published by Valentine of Dundee around 1895, so it gives us a clue as to how long people have been visiting the beautiful seaside at North Berwick.

What more will our Primary 5 digital detectives be able to discover about where they live? We’ll be looking at lots of aerial imagery, considering how the town has changed and expanded over time. We’ll think about traits & trades which may have remained the same and finally, when we reach the end of our collaborative investigations, we will share our findings – so tenterhooks until then.

Digital Leaders – Week 1

This year sees the second year of the successful Digital Leaders programme at school which I have designed. After visiting the primary 4 to 7 classes to advertise the programme with classes, I have received over 50 applications!  On one hand, this is amazing as this was more than double the applicants from last year.  On the other hand, this is now more difficult as I can’t interview them all so will have to sift through them to decide who to interview!  The children come across as so confident in their use of ICT and I think I could learn a lot from them, never mind them learning from me!  Interviews will be held next week and already the applicants have ideas of what they could be involved in through the programme such as training other children, holding lunchtime clubs and teaching the teachers!  I think the programme this year is going to be even more successful than last year.  Now to read over all these lovely application forms!  A cup of tea required I think!

Next week….. the interviews!
