Happy Holidays

Keep reading over the holidays!
Keep reading over the holidays!

What a busy term.  We succeeded in reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone whilst learning about metalinguistics, metacognition, summarising, predicting, visualising and identifying the main idea. We also completed 6 Big Writing lessons, learned about owls, learned how to blog, developed physical and team skills through football and increased our stamina through jogging.  In maths we have found out about the features of circles, triangles and quadrilaterals, created artwork using tessellation, made magic cubes, learned about decimals and fractions and improved our mental agility.  We have also learned about classical composers and created fantastic Padlets, talks and leaflets.  We have found out about sound and how it is created and transmitted.  We have also been looking at the World’s Biggest Lesson and using Launch Pad to examine the articles that make up the rights of a child.

Well done everybody.  Have a brilliant holiday.  We’re looking forward to seeing how much we can achieve next term.

Digital Leaders – Week 1

This year sees the second year of the successful Digital Leaders programme at school which I have designed. After visiting the primary 4 to 7 classes to advertise the programme with classes, I have received over 50 applications!  On one hand, this is amazing as this was more than double the applicants from last year.  On the other hand, this is now more difficult as I can’t interview them all so will have to sift through them to decide who to interview!  The children come across as so confident in their use of ICT and I think I could learn a lot from them, never mind them learning from me!  Interviews will be held next week and already the applicants have ideas of what they could be involved in through the programme such as training other children, holding lunchtime clubs and teaching the teachers!  I think the programme this year is going to be even more successful than last year.  Now to read over all these lovely application forms!  A cup of tea required I think!

Next week….. the interviews!

All about us

We are a P6/7 class at Strathburn School.  There are 24 of us.  We have two teachers called Mrs Milne and Mrs Simpson.  We are learning about music and sound this term.  We have also found out about owls and made some fantastic 3D owls for the classroom (pictures to follow).  Our class novel is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.  We have made a cardboard Harry and a collage owl to welcome people to our classroom.  We are also making 2D owls to put in our reading corner.

Why are we blogging?

“We are starting a blog to hopefully share ideas. We also want to know about what other schools are doing.” Becky

“We are blogging so we have more to show on our CVs.” Daniel

“We are starting a blog to share our learning and so we can find out about other schools, so we can share ideas and learn more. We will keep you informed about all the brilliant things we do in P6/7.” Isla

Hello world!

Welcome to our blog.  P6/7 M/S will be updating this on a regular basis so that we can share our learning with you.  We decided to blog so that we could all have easy access to our learning.  It will give us the opportunity to learn how to create and use a blog effectively whilst keeping others updated on our progress.
