Being a better Blogger

We are P7a from Whinhill Primary! We have just started blogging this year and we have enjoyed it so far. P7 are participating in the Blogging bootcamp and this is our first post with many more to come. Recently we have just set up our e-portfolios and are going to write our first posts about our learning soon. As we are new to blogging, we have made a blogging guide to help us become more confident. Me and the class all suggested some names for the guide and everybody liked my idea ‘Blogopedia’ because its like wikipedia and you can look at it for information on how to blog. I think my idea is #Epic!

BLOG WATCHWhen we were writing the guide we all thought of things to be written that Mrs Hunter and anyone reading it would want to know about our learning in P7. We thought it was a good idea to add a photo of our learning too. I hope lots of people visit the blog and like our Blogopedia.

We  write our name on the Blog Watch display in class when we are blogging. There are lots of ideas on that board where we can look at examples of good blog posts.

Why do we Blog?

P7 love to blog as we can express our interests. Our blog lets a varied audience from all around the world interact with what we are doing in our class. It lets individual pupils share their experiences and achievements.

As we continue to blog we will develop key skills for example literacy, ICT and typing. We also become more aware of cyber safety.

Internet safety is very important. We know that we should never share our passwords or personal information.  Our blog is really safe although it is available for the world to view.

Blogging has lots of benefits such as social skills, classroom community and global connections. It means we are constantly improving on our literacy skills for the future. It also enhances our online confidence.

Not only is blogging beneficial, our whole class love writing and commenting on posts. Our class enjoy answering our ‘Question of the Week,’ and giving their own opinions on class debates.

Furthermore, P7 have established a new Student Media Team who are responsible for the upkeep of our blog, taking classroom ‘snapshots’ of learning, writing class newspapers and updating other social media outlets.

We hope that this explains why our class blog and encourages others to start blogging too.

Hello world!

Welcome to our blog.  P6/7 M/S will be updating this on a regular basis so that we can share our learning with you.  We decided to blog so that we could all have easy access to our learning.  It will give us the opportunity to learn how to create and use a blog effectively whilst keeping others updated on our progress.

Primary 3/4 first post

Hello we are Primary 3/4 in Kelloholm Primary School and this is our first blog, we hope you enjoy it. Our class is awesome and we are going to share with you all the wonderfully exciting things we learn about and our great experiences in school.

Democracy, Migration & Nationalism

It’s all happening in Highland this week at Culloden Academy.  Scran has been invited to work with senior pupils studying the SQA Higher History syllabus. The focus will 'SS Marloch' setting sail for Canada 1924 be on accessing resources and records related to the three main topics for the year;

  • Migration & Empire 1830-1939
  • Growth of Democracy 1850-1950    inc. the Suffragettes
  • Growth of Nationalism, Germany 1815-1939

Besides learning how to use Scran as a research tool, the Culloden students will also be thinking about digital assets, copyright how to attribute their sources appropriately.

This “Good Luck” image is a firm favourite in the Scran office and you can find it amongst our records on emigration. It shows five well-dressed ladies posing with the Captain on board ‘SS Marloch’, before setting sail for Canada in 1924.

After school, the Social Subjects & RMPS staff will have to knuckle down too. The twilight session is part of our ongoing schools CPD and CLPL offer.

Introduction

Hello fellow folks on the bootcamp,

I am a English Probationer teacher who has just started at Thurso High School. I have already been using a blog with my senior classes as a matter of catch up work and links to helpful websites. I feel the opportunity is great but need a little assistance and ideas to go about this. Hopefully this is where you can all help as we share ideas and collaborate on projects.
