Primary

Primary schools show how introducing rights based learning pervades every aspect of the school: ethos, relationships and the curriculum are enhanced and values are underpinned by knowledge of and confidence in the unconditionality and universality of rights.

One benefit of introducing rights based learning in primary school is that children discover at an early stage in their education that the adults around them want to hear their views and involve them in the decisions that affect them. Children and young people who get involved in decision-making know it is a good thing to do because:

– they feel listened to
– they know that what they say matters
– they gain important skills such as listening to others, explaining their ideas and concerns and being part of a team
– they get on better with other children and adults
– they see results all around them

  1. Would there be any school willing to share good practice and perhaps have a visit to see how your school manages and teaches RRS in a whole school approach?

    Thanks!
