Welcome

Welcome to the Glasgow and Clyde Rights Based Learning Glow Blog.

The Blog contains examples, resources and information to support rights based learning in schools and early years centres.

As the Children and Young People Act comes into force, it will place a duty on the public sector to report on what they are doing to take forward realisation of the rights set out in the UNCRC. This resource is designed to offer support to early years, primary, secondary and specialist establishments on the journey to rights based learning.
Here you will find:

  • an introduction by Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People;
  • a collection of films of inspirational practice;
  • management tools showing planning and implementation;
  • training materials for staff and parents;
  • teaching resources for early years, primary, secondary and special classrooms;
  • news of events;
  • a calendar of Doors Open dates where you can visit rights leading schools and early years centres;
  • links to key documents;
  • links to useful sites such as UNICEF’s Rights Respecing Schools Award.

With time, this resource will grow as inspiring rights education is identified across Scotland.
Here is a flavour of the resource (click picture to access film):

Much of the work you see here was done by schools pursuing UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools Award using up-to-date guidance and support materials provided by schools.

  1. A fantastic resource! Looking forward to posting more examples from Glasgow as we gather good practice in rights based learning across the city in January.

    1. Thanks Diana for the comment! We are looking forward to gathering more resources to share around the networks, and keep promoting all the good work promoting Children’s Rights across all the authorities!
