Parental Involvement and Engagement Census

The annual Parental Involvement and Engagement (PIE) census has been launched to gather the views of Glasgow’s families to help shape and influence education policy and decision making.

The Scottish Government wants to improve and increase the ways in which parents, carers and families can work with teachers and partners to support their children and young people. We also want to increase the voice of parents and carers in leading improvements within schools.

To achieve this ambition the Scottish Government, in partnership with local government, developed the Learning Together National Action Plan on Parental Involvement, Parental engagement, Family learning and Learning at home. The plan has a number of actions and goals designed to improve the support and information available to all parents.

In order to ensure that the Scottish Government and local authorities are meeting the commitments made in the National Action Plan it is important that we gather the opinions and feedback of parents to evaluate the progress we are making.

Due to the pandemic, the survey has not been carried out since 2019 so it is vitally important that we try to encourage as many of our parents and carers to take part in the census to make their views known.

Here is the link to all the information and the survey on the council webpages https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17870 along with a QR code that will direct families to the questions.

It will not take long to fill in and Kathryn Farrow, QIO for parent partnerships, has been able to secure extra funding to be given to the Parent Council in the three schools that achieve highest participation rates – so that’s an added incentive to get more engagement in your school.

School garden decorations

We will be decorating the school grounds with all sorts of ghoulish delights from this Saturday 23rd October. If you’d like to get involved please email us or message on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/237423799686385). There are ideas on the Facebook group of things you can easily make at home at little/no expense, and bring in to school e.g. milk bottle ghosts, sock spiders and egg carton bats. We welcome any of your creations or offers of help!

Costume Recycling

The recycling rail is up and ready outside the school office, awaiting donations of pre-loved, good condition Halloween and fancy-dress clothes and accessories. Please donate if you can, and pop along to see if there’s anything you could re-use this year. Another great way to help refuse, reduce, re-use and recycle.

Many thanks,

The PA

Outdoor Clothing Swap

MESSAGE FROM OUR PARENTS ASSOCIATION:

Hi everyone,

We have been bowled over by the huge amount of donations for our outdoor wear clothing swap! Thank you all so much.

We have arranged the clothes and footwear on a rail in the main foyer, outside the school office. This will be accessible from drop off to pick up, and at afterschool times all this week.

Please pop in and see if there’s anything you can re-home.

The donations box is also still there for any further clean, good condition items.

We are really excited to be supporting our Eco School to reduce, re-use and recycle ♻️.

Thanks, The PA

Additional information Please note the below advice in terms of do’s and don’ts before and during the voting period:

Do:

  • – Cast your vote as soon as you receive your token for a project in the current voting round
  • – Only submit Community Grants tokens to cast your vote – Maximise promotion of your project during the voting period by making best use of press and social media guidance
  • Encourage the local community and your supporters to get involved with Community Grants voting

Don’t:

  • Tamper with the voting unit (otherwise your project may be void from the vote)
  • Influence customers casting their vote at the voting unit
  • Take more than one token from the self-serve checkouts
  • Encourage supporters to hoard then submit multiple tokens in the voting unit
  • Promote your project in store without permission from the Store Manager
  • Collect Community Grants tokens from stores that are not within your region to vote for your project

Please note, if you do not adhere to this guidance, this may affect your grant award. Another tip is to add the address mail@grantapplication.com to your email account to ensure that you receive future requests and information.
