Parents’ Association

Merrylee has a very active and supportive Parents’ Association, the aim of which is to bring parents, pupils and staff together through social and fund-raising events.

Every parent or guardian of a pupil in the school are now members of the Parent Forum and can become part of the Parent Council and that of the Parents Association.

The Committee of the Association meet on the last Wednesday of every month in the school normally between 7pm – 8pm. Meetings are attended by at least one member of staff to maintain close links and to offer an exchange of support and ideas for future events.

The events have included a Family Ceilidh, Winter Fair, Mobile Adventure Course, pupils’ discos, Health and Beauty Evenings, school photographs and book fairs.

Over the last few years the money raised has been used to purchase a host of items, including: computer equipment, smart boards, and educational resources for the school, library books and also equipment for the running club and also for our School Allotment. It has also helped to finance class trips and visits.

These events would not have been the great success they were without the tremendous help and enthusiasm of all involved. Every pupil in the school benefits from all the help given by parents, pupils, staff and friends.

New ideas or suggestions for fundraising are always welcome and Committee members can be contacted through the school.
