Hello Parents and Carers,
In the absence of our annual Christmas Fair, we are excited to launch our first online Christmas Raffle (Prize Competition)! The Merrylee Primary Parentsβ Association Christmas Raffle serves to raise money to enhance the learning experience and environment for all pupils at Merrylee Primary School.

Tickets are Β£1.00 and will be available to buy from the 1st of December. All winners will be notified by email, so keep an eye out! Prizes must be collected from the school office from 15th – 17th December 2.45 – 3.10pm or by arrangement with the PA by emailing merryleepa@hotmail.com

Merrylee Monster Mash trail
Following the success of our Halloween trail last year, we are recreating the fun with The Merrylee Monster Mash running from Thursday 28th October to Sunday 31st. If you would like your home to feature on our map, please email the PA (merryleepa@hotmail.com) asap, including your name and address. Your home will appear as a pumpkin on the map. We can’t wait to see your decorated windows, balconies and/or gardens! Maps will be available from school, on Seesaw and Facebook from Weds 27th Oct.
School garden decorations
We will be decorating the school grounds with all sorts of ghoulish delights from this Saturday 23rd October. If you’d like to get involved please email us or message on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/237423799686385). There are ideas on the Facebook group of things you can easily make at home at little/no expense, and bring in to school e.g. milk bottle ghosts, sock spiders and egg carton bats. We welcome any of your creations or offers of help!
Costume Recycling
The recycling rail is up and ready outside the school office, awaiting donations of pre-loved, good condition Halloween and fancy-dress clothes and accessories. Please donate if you can, and pop along to see if there’s anything you could re-use this year. Another great way to help refuse, reduce, re-use and recycle.
Many thanks,
The PA

Outdoor Clothing Swap
MESSAGE FROM OUR PARENTS ASSOCIATION:
Hi everyone,
We have been bowled over by the huge amount of donations for our outdoor wear clothing swap! Thank you all so much.
We have arranged the clothes and footwear on a rail in the main foyer, outside the school office. This will be accessible from drop off to pick up, and at afterschool times all this week.
Please pop in and see if there’s anything you can re-home.
The donations box is also still there for any further clean, good condition items.
We are really excited to be supporting our Eco School to reduce, re-use and recycle β»οΈ.
Thanks, The PA

- – Only submit Community Grants tokens to cast your vote – Maximise promotion of your project during the voting period by making best use of press and social media guidance
- Encourage the local community and your supporters to get involved with Community Grants voting
Donβt:
- Tamper with the voting unit (otherwise your project may be void from the vote)
- Influence customers casting their vote at the voting unit
- Take more than one token from the self-serve checkouts
- Encourage supporters to hoard then submit multiple tokens in the voting unit
- Promote your project in store without permission from the Store Manager
- Collect Community Grants tokens from stores that are not within your region to vote for your project
Please note, if you do not adhere to this guidance, this may affect your grant award. Another tip is to add the address mail@grantapplication.com to your email account to ensure that you receive future requests and information.

Final week arrangements
It is hard to believe that we are heading towards the summer holidays already!
The teachers will share your child’s final report with you on Seesaw today Monday 21st June.Β Your child is also bringing home their class photograph today organised and funded by the Parents’ Association. The tea towels should also be arriving this week and will be issued before we finish for the holidays.
On Wednesday the PA have arranged a little summer treat for all of our pupils. They have also arranged a special treat for P7 as we weren’t able to go ahead with the planned P7 party because of Covid restrictions. These treats are being funded from the Break the Rules fundraising day. Many thanks to the PA for organising this and to all of you for your contributions.
Please note that school closes at 1pm on Thursday. Because of our staggered lunch breaks we won’t be able to have a full lunch break but we have arranged two short breaks. There will be a mid-morning break as usual. There will also be another short break for children to have a packed lunch or a school lunch which they will eat in the classroom or outdoors. Choices for school lunch on Thursday are hot dogs or sandwiches.
At 1 o’clock we will ring the bell continuously to send off our P7 pupils who will have the chance to walk through the school to say goodbye before being dismissed to the back of the building as usual. All classes will be dismissed following usual procedures at 1pm. We would respectfully request that parents do not congregate on school grounds at the end of the day.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy summer holiday. Thank you as always for your continued support, especially during this most challenging of years. We are all in a much better place than this time last year and can hopefully look forward to these positive changes continuing.
Kindest regards,
Colette Haddock and the Merrylee Staff Team
