The Yardbird Suite is a bebop standard written by one of the most important names in Jazz, the alto player Charlie Parker. He is one of a few key figures responsible for creating a new language of improvisation which has become the basis of what followed. Other innovators in developing bebop are the trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, and the piano players, Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell.
