Our choir were recently invited to join Rhona at Broomfield Court Care Home for their annual Remembrance Day service. Many of the residents served in or lived through the war and it was fantastic to hear their memories and to share in their special moment as we sang ‘Que Sera Sera’ and ‘The Black Hills of Dakota’.
Today the STARS Team and JRSO’s led a workshop all about the Green Cross Code and how to cross the road safely. They discussed the 6 steps of the Green Cross Code: THINK – is this a safe place to cross? STOP – at the pavement near the kerb. LOOK/LISTEN – for traffic all around. Look left and right! We have been sharing our new books and story sacks with our Primary 1s and their parents. We enjoyed listening to Mrs Honey’s Hat read by Mrs Harris and Peace At Last read this week by Mrs Kearns.
This week we had a visitor to our class. His name was Duncan. He plays the clarinet in the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He taught us about the vibrations that instruments make. We learned about the different parts of the orchestra like woodwind, strings, percussion and brass. We’re going to see Duncan play in a concert next week! We can’t wait to hear the different songs. The boys and girls in Primary 1a had lots of fun at Halloween. We all wore great costumes to our party, some of which included witches, werewolves and super heroes! We also had lots of fun dooking for apples, making witch masks and eating lots of yummy party food!
