Guess the Politician Game using KeyNote ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿคฃ

Good morning P6/7 ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

How are you all? I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and those of you celebrating Eid had a fantastic time.

Todayโ€™s task is based around digital learning. Most of you have your school IPad at home so I hope youโ€™ll be able to see this KeyNote presentation Iโ€™ve made. Hearing and reading all the news about Covid-19 can sometimes be quite overwhelming and there are lots of negative stories going around at the moment, so I thought Iโ€™d have some fun and create this little task for you.

What you need to do is guess the name of the politician in the image. You could use the background in some of them to help you – Iโ€™ve chosen images with the name of the political party in the background. Another clue might be if you can guess the gender of the person based on jewellery they are wearing etc.

Post your answers in the comments. When you have completed this task, you could create a similar presentation and a quiz for us and email me it. Remember we recreated ย the image of Robert Burns? You can scroll back on the blog to find them.

Good luck, let me know how you get on. Have a great day.
Missing you all loads, Miss McCue xx

Some of your work ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

space ppt

Clink the link above and check out this PowerPoint Mansoor made all about space. Thanks for sharing Mansoor ๐Ÿคฉโค๏ธ You guys could use PowerPoint on your iPad to create a presentation on something you are interested in. You can then email me it if you want to share your learning.

Auzair has been keeping busy with his maths work and is challenging himself as always. Keep up this amazing work Auzair, you’re doing great ๐Ÿคฉโค๏ธ

Abeeha has been taking on the role of teacher and helping her younger siblings with some activities. Your caring nature would make you an excellent teacher Abeeha. ๐Ÿคฉโค๏ธ

Ibrar had a wonderful time celebrating Eid with his family. They all look fantastic and Ibrar is looking extra beautiful here. โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Remember to send me photos of some of your work and we can share our learning together.

Eid Mubarak ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Today, lots of you will be celebrating Eid. I know it is very different this year but I hope you can still enjoy the time with those you have around you. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

I’m SO SO proud of all of you and your dedication and commitment to your faith. You’re knowledgeable of your own religion and respectful of other religions, that’s very impressive.

The staff at our school have been carrying out kind acts, making traditional food and enjoying spending time with family. We hope you enjoy the video we created for you…ย

Have a fantastic time celebrating, you deserve it ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Smiling Faces โ˜บ๏ธโค๏ธ

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to see Coral, Abeeha and Ibrahim. โค๏ธโค๏ธ This certainly cheered me up and I was so happy to see their smiling faces. I’m not sure if Ibrahim was so happy to see me though hmmm?

It’s so important for you guys to stay in touch with each other as much as possible so please try and speak to people from our class and check that they’re OK. Lockdown is really difficult and we need to make sure that we are taking care of each other. Get in touch with people, chat to them, make sure they’re OK. You are all so kind and thoughtful so make sure you’re showing that during this time please.

Have a great day and I’m sending you lots of love,

Miss McCue xx ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Creative Literacy and Digital Literacy

Good morning all ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

I hope everyone is feeling fantastic today. Can I just say thanks to those who sent me a short clip yesterday for Coral’s birthday video. It made me so happy to see your faces and hear your voices. You are all so kind and loving, I’m so proud of you. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Before I set the tasks, I just want to remind you that you don’t need to do all of the tasks, or any of the tasks. You do what you can but I don’t want anyone to feel stressed trying to complete all of the work. I try to set tasks which I know you should be able to do on your own and set revision of learning we have done in the past. If you can’t remember something, contact me and I will help you. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

If you can, please leave a comment on the blog so that I know you can see what I’m posting. If you need your glow email from me, WhatsApp me and I will give it to you again. Sometimes it can be strange for me to be talking to myself on this ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ and boring, cause I’m so boring and you’re all much more fun and exciting than me.

Here’s a task you can do with your iPad. The task is to create a book using the PAGES app on your iPad. We’ve used this app before in class but if you can’t remember how it works, play around with it and then you’ll learn more about it. Also, watch this video for ideas and some guidance on how to use the app.ย

I know you can’t get onto YouTube on your ipad which is very annoying but if you have another device in the house like a laptop or someone’s phone, can you use that to watch the video and then you can complete the task on your iPad?

Ideas for what you’re book could be about:

  • Your time in lockdown so far
  • Your Ramadan experience this yearย
  • What is Eid? How is it celebrated? Why is it celebrated?ย
  • Things you are looking forward to doing after lockdown
  • Covid 19 – what it is, where it came from, what impact it has had on our world, what impact it has had on our country, what impact it has had on you personally
  • Your favourite music artist, footballer, cricketer etc.ย
  • A how to survive lockdown guide by ‘Your Name’

You choose what to create a book about, as long as it is appropriate obviously. You have the freedom to be creative here so enjoy the task.

You can send me your book as an email or else video it on your iPad using another device and send it to me via WhatsApp.

Enjoy, have fun and have a great day. โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

Missing you all lots and can’t wait to see you,ย

Ramadan Poetry

Good morning gorgeous girls and boys ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

I know a lot of you are observing Ramadan just now and that this has some similarities to what Christians do during Lent. During Ramadan, Muslims fast during daylight and then feast after sunset. This teaches discipline and makes them feel closer to Allah.

I admire the sacrifice you give during this month and have tried fasting a few times myself but only really last til about 4 o’clock in the day then I need my dilutingย  juice because I’ve been awake since 7 o’clock.

I’ve been reading poems about Ramadan and think there is something special about them. Have a read at this one which I really like –ย

Your task is to write your own poem about Ramadan and what Ramadan means to you.ย If you are observing Ramadan in any way, use how you feel to help you write the poem. If you aren’t observing Ramadan, use what you know about it and what your friends have told you to write your poem.

Your poem doesn’t need to be as long as the poem I’ve posted above. Here are some features of poetry you have learned about that you might use when writing your poem –

ย

Some ideas –

you could write an acrostic poem which is a poem like this –

You could write a haiku which is split into 3 lines. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables and the third line has 5 syllables again. Like this –

The glorious moon,ย

glistens on the ocean waves,ย

what a sight to see.

You could write a rhyming poem in which the word at the end of each line, rhymes with the final word of the line before. For example –

Have fun with this task. I can’t wait to read all your poems and maybe I could even choose my favourite!

Here’s a wee video for you to watch too –ย

Have a great day everyone, sending you lots of love,

Miss McCue xx

Tuesday – Maths, Modern Studies and Assembly.

Happy Tuesday guys ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

How did you get on with your guided reading yesterday? Did you see Mrs Alexanderโ€™s message? Itโ€™s always nice to see a friendly face.

Maths – Word problems. Have a go at these maths word problems. You may need to use the 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to work out the answers. ย Remember, word problems can be quite confusing so I always try to write down each step as I do it so for example this first one, I would do

  • 272-223(children)=49
  • then I would do 49-16(teachers)=33
  • so there are 33 parents at the brass band competition.

Another tip when dealing with word problems is to not focus on the words so much. ย Sometimes, most of the words donโ€™t mean much and can just confuse people more because of all the reading.

Modern Studies – Coronavirus.ย  This task is hard work but lots of fun. You need to fill in the blanks for each column. You will need to use the internet to help you with this so it is a research task as well as a modern studies task. You could draw the table out on paper and send me a picture of it. I will post the completed table at the end of the week as it is really interesting to look at and compare what other countries are doing during this global pandemic.
Here is the Missing answers to the first one to help get you started: Country – Philippines, President – Rodrigo Duterte.

Check out the link below for this week’s assembly. The focus of the week is FAITH andย  your challenge this week is to send me pictures of you spending time with your family, this can be eating, cooking, praying or any other time you spend together. Well done to Zaynab who was Mr Stewart’s Star of the Week for her gorgeous pictures of the outdoors. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ https://youtu.be/GCQ9dOEbfn4ย

I hope you have a fantastic day. ย Sending you all lots of love,

Miss McCue xx

Guided Reading – Finding your Identity.

Hey everyone, here is your guided reading task for this week.

Weโ€™ve chosen a well-being focus again as this is really important to all of you just now.
Here is the text and the questions. Iโ€™ve posted a picture of a figure that Iโ€™ve drawn to help you with question 10.

Underneath are links to the P4-7 St Albertโ€™s YouTube channel. ย You can use these to listen to me reading the text and the questions.

Good luck and enjoy. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ
