A week with a surprise!

Welcome back to the P6 blog.

We have had another busy and exciting week this week.

In maths we have been learning about factors. Factors are when numbers work together to solve a problem. We were working in pairs to find factor pairs.

In literacy we have been continuing our work on characterisation. we were focussing on body language and finding ways to tell a reader how a character is feeling. We acted our different feelings using our body language and the class had to guess what we were trying to show.

Finally some of the girls in our class have been keeping a secret from Miss Webster for some time now. It is her birthday tomorrow and they planned a surprise party for her! They bought gifts, balloons, banners, food and drinks for the class to enjoy. It was amazing!

see you next week!

World book day

Welcome back! We have been on a crazy amount of trips this week.

On Tuesday Zara,Hubaib,Jalal and Hanna went to the city chambers to show what our school has been learning about social enterprise we could’ve won 5000 pounds but Langside primary won with a smoothie bike, sad times.we still ended up in the finals and we got a certificate.congratulations!!!

On Monday we went to meet an author called Ross Mackenzie as part of  the Wee Write festival. We got a sneak-peak of his new book     Called Evernight. Every-one liked the book because it was interesting and adventurous. Spoiler about Evernight Laura Fox finds a bird when she holds it it comes alive but the kings evil wife is trying to find the bird so she releases the Evernight and one of her most strong force Shadow Jack who has no shadow.

On Thursday it was world book day and we didn’t wear any costumes. The reason that we didn’t wear any costumes because World book day was made to promote Reading books not to wear fancy costumes

The end of January

Hello this is Arisha,Hanna and Zara

We has been learning so much over the past couple of weeks that MissWebster has forgotten to keep you updated. Luckily, we are here to save the day!

Ben has ben telling stories about enslaved and freedom. We painted a picture about what we thought freedom is. Some of these things are fireworks and birds being freed from their cage

We had to make statues of what we thought freedom is and we had different categories and had to create them.

We had to work with a partner and one was the controller and the other had to follow their hand.

We had samba with Mr McCormack and we were marching with the drums and the pulse and some tambirines and bells. We went outside and were marching with our music we went around the school and showed our beautiful talent! We thought we were amazing and had nothing to hide!It was really fun  and exciting to express  our fabulous talent and hard work of samba. Here are some photos of our work:

Moving on to Maths!

This week in maths we have been looking at fractions of a quantity. It was quite hard at first but our amazing teacher Miss Webster explained it all to us.Here are some examples of what we did!

New homework for term 3

Homework will be changing slightly for term three.

Each week your child will receive ten spelling words in their red spelling jotter. They must copy each word 3 times, write a sentence for each and then complete the 3rd spelling challenge which will be written in their jotter each Monday.

Your child will also be given weekly maths homework sheets to be completed. This can be completed either on the sheet or in their green jotter if they need space to show working.

All pupils should still be reading their own book of choice each night (they may borrow from the school if they like) and any additional research or task related homework will be given out when appropriate.

Homework is still due on Thursdays

Any questions please just ask 🙂

Thanks

Miss Webster

Happy New Year!

Welcome back everybody!

Hope you all had a lovely break and are excited to be back in P6 for 2020!

This term we are learning lots of new things.

In maths we will be studying Fractions, Decimals and Percentages. If you want to practise this at home please see the top marks website for some games and quizzes.

In literacy we will be studying Poetry and Characterisation. We will be writing our own poems and stories using our incredible imaginations!

To start this topic off Miss Webster set us all the challenge of using our most impressive and detailed adjectives. We chose a name of a person in our class and we had to describe them as best as we could. Our aim was to get the whole class to correctly guess who we were describing.

For example:

“My person has very, very ,very long hair. She plays Roblox and she wears glasses” – Aamna was of course describing Chantel

“She has a big smile, she wears hairbands, she’s taller than Hubaib, she’s a big fan of Big Boss” – Aliyan is describing Simmal.

“She loves fashion, she’s sometimes strict, she loves to shop and she loves hot drinks like coffee and tea.”- Zaynab described Maria

“Her hair smells very nice, she’s small, she wears her hair in a ponytail and she runs with her sister”- Antony is describing Aamna.

We will be studying poetry next week.

Our IDL topic this year will be Slavery. We know so far that Slavery began in 1619 and it began in America.

We are excited to learn more about this

Our PE days are still Monday and Tuesday but both will take place on the MUGA so be sure to pack warm and appropriate gym clothes. We will be studying circuits and athletics.

We will keep you updated on all of our learning adventures!

from P6 🙂
