Weekly Update Monday 25 March 2024

General Information

We had a fantastic turn-out for our P3 and P4 presentation on Friday afternoon. Standing room only! The children excelled in their poems, singing and dancing. A great afternoon!

Mrs Tweed is set to return to us here at Tayport as Headteacher on Monday 15 April.  Mrs Peterson will resume as Depute Headteacher meaning Miss Ford and Mrs Simpson will return to full time class responsibility.

May I take this opportunity to thank  Miss Ford and Mrs Simpson for all their support in their respective Acting Depute Headteacher roles.

Weekly Update Monday 18 March 2024

General Information

A huge thank you to all of you who collected and handed in tokens for “Pounds for Primaries”.

We managed to collect a fantastic 1596 tokens! Further details about what this earns us will follow!

Due to technical issues, our Tempest Photographer was unable to get through all our classes. They will return on Monday 25 March to complete photographs for P4 and family groupings.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Last Thursday we had the second of our pupil progress meetings. Once again, we had a really good turn-out. The feedback from our Pupil Progress survey was overwhelmingly positive.

Thank you to all of you who took the time to complete.

On Friday we celebrated Red Nose Day by wearing something red and donating 50p. We managed to raise £58.

Weekly Update Monday 11 March 2024

General Information

The first of our pupil progress meetings went ahead last Tuesday with an excellent turn out. Thanks to all of you who attended and also to those of you who completed our feedback form.

Last Thursday we had a wonderful World Book Day with staff and children coming to school in their pyjamas. The day was packed with literacy activities. A special thank you to Fife Libraries for arranging an author visit to the school. Emily Dodd was fantastic to listen to. Photos will follow in our end of term Sway.

Reading Café 4  9.30-10.15am This reading café is for our STEM challengers and Global Citizens pupils

Wednesday 13 – The Dog Trust are in delivering our L2L (assembly)and then carrying out workshop sessions in a few classes.

Thursday 14 – Pupil Progress Meetings 3.30-6.30pm

Unfortunately Mrs Holmes has had to cancel bikeability this week.

Thank you to all of you who managed to attend our AGM Parent Council Meeting last Thursday – we had a really good turn out.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 7 May at 6pm.

Thank you also to the Health Hub and Peer Mediators for running our Kitbag and Konnect session on Friday afternoon. You did a great job!

General Information

The whole school took part in our P1-7 Dodgeball House Games on Friday. This was made possible by our Active Schools Co-ordinator. Fun was had by all.

Please remember that children should NOT be bringing any snacks to school that contain nuts.

Football strips should NOT be worn in school at any time.

Our Raffle winner was Willow (P7). Well done Willow!

All proceeds from the raffle are going towards the P7 Big Day Out next term.

Weekly Update Monday 5 February 2024

This week our Nursery to P7 children are participating in Safer Internet Week with a range of activities and resources being viewed in classrooms. Our Learn to Learn assemblies will focus on this.

Monday 5 – Look out for letters about Pupil Progress Meetings P1-7 and Letters about our Scottish Opera Performance P5-7

Tuesday  6 – we will be welcoming an education team to the school to showcase our progress to date. This is a chance for us to get valuable feedback and to inform next steps.

A parent focus group will also be part of this process – many thanks to all who volunteered to join this.

Wednesday 7 – Mrs Tweed starts at Leuchars Primary School.

We wish her all the best and a speedy return to us!

Reading Café – Tuesday 30 January 9.30-10.15am

Our Reading Café this week will be led by the Tidy Team and Peer Mediators. Children from these groups will have handed out invitations to their chosen adults.

Informal Parent Council Chat – Tuesday 30 January 2.15-3pm – everyone welcome, come to the main office and find out what our Parent Council does.

PE Reminder – Girls should wear T-shirts, not crop tops. On PE days, jewellery (earrings, rings, watches, bracelets) should not be worn.

A final plea to all parents – please can false eyelashes, false nails and make-up be saved for OUT of school.
