Blairhall Primary School Parent Council

The Parent Council play a crucial role in supporting the school throughout the year and providing support for many activities undertaken by the school.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to support the school and wider local community for the benefit of all.

If you are interested contact the school directly or attend out next Parent Council meeting and make your interest known.

The Blairhall Primary School Parent Council re-established itself in October 2011 following a number of years of inactivity.  They work proactively and consistently to support the School in its endeavours.

The current committee members of the Parent Council are:

  • Paul Hayter – Chairperson
  • Anitta Jeffs-Watts – Secretary
  • Louise Scott – Treasurer

The Objectives of the Parent Council Are:

  • To work in partnership with the school to create a welcoming school which is inclusive for all parents/carers and pupils.
  • To promote partnership between the school, its pupils and all its parents/carers.
  • To help the school to develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of pupils.
  • To identify and represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils.
  • To work in partnership with the local community.
  • To support fund-raising activities.
  • To campaign on specific issues affecting the school.

Any parent/ carer who has a child/ren attending Blairhall Primary School is automatically included as a member of the Parent Forum. As well as the Parent Forum (which all parents are member of), the school has a Parent Council that any parent can join. As a member of the Parent Council, you are eligible to put yourself forward for election to a committee post, although only one member from each family can hold a committee post at any one time.

All parents are welcome to attend our meetings which are held every 4 weeks at Blairhall Primary School.

The Parent Council keep the wider community updated regarding projects and events and general school related information via our facebook page, the School website page and newsletters/flyers.

Any parent/carer of a child attending Blairhall Primary School can apply to join the Parent Council Facebook group, however we would ask that you respond to the two questions regarding your child/ren’s name and class as we use this information to confirm with the school that your application is valid, failure to do so may result in your application being declined, this is to ensure the integrity and safety of our page.
