ASC Yellow

Welcome to the Yellow Room. The teaching team this year is Mr McDowell and Mr Davis  with the support of Miss Young and Miss Ogg who are our Pupil Support Assistants. We are all very much looking forward to working with the children.

It is important to us that your child loves learning and coming to school. Over the year, we will use a creative curriculum which is led by their needs to take the children on their learning adventures. We strive to provide exciting experiences through thought-provoking lessons and a co-operative environment. We will support your child in becoming resilient, independent, and confident. Within the classroom and local community children will be provided with the means to communicate effectively and have their voice heard. We love to take on a challenge in the Yellow Room and encourage children to use their growth mindset to reach their full potentials. They will experience attainment and achievement through individual target setting. We will experience positive learning opportunities that are relevant, meaningful and enjoyable. We believe mistakes are proof of trying and we encourage this positive thinking in our classroom. Practice makes better!

The ASC Gathering where we celebrate ‘Child of the Week’ is on a Monday afternoon.

In our Topic learning, your child will be exploring the Paralympics, the history, sports and inclusion involved

Over this year your child will be introduced to a wide variety of sports and physical activities as well as learning about healthy eating and promoting healthy lifestyles. Gym will be on a Tuesday and Friday, we would appreciate it if the children would wear their gym kit to school on those days.

We will be going to the library every second Thursday

In the Yellow room we have high expectations for behaviour and build on our friendships daily. With help from you at home and by following our school values and class charter, we know this year is going to be an amazing one!

A message from your new teacher

  • I have been teaching for 29 years. I am pleased to share that I have had the privilege of the last 6 almost 7 years involved with teaching at Benarty Primary School. I have always provided a safe, nurturing environment enabling the amazing staff with an ethos of unlocking our core values of respect, inclusion and responsibility of achievement in all.
  • Teaching at Benarty in the very heart of Scotland is my passion. Local / National Historical themes are intertwined in my learning as I share my knowledge of area to promote a sense of pride, respect and care for our environment.
  • What you are looking forward to with your new class – To share my experience of inclusivity for all. To unlock potential.
  • What you hope to achieve with your new class A sense of safety to provide daily opportunity to nurture and achieve.
  • A message to parents (ways to communicate etc.) – We use the Seesaw application for the sharing of information and pictures of the children engaged in learning. We also use telephone for communication for information if deemed appropriate. I have always prided myself in approachability and encourage parental involvement in set times throughout the year via open times.
