ASC Purple

Welcome to the Purple Room. The teaching team this year is Mr McNeil  with the support of Ms Barclay and Ms Wardlaw who are our Pupil Support Assistants. We are all very much looking forward to working with the children.

It is important to us that your child loves learning and coming to school. Over the year, we will use a creative curriculum which is led by their needs to take the children on their learning adventures. We strive to provide exciting experiences through thought-provoking lessons and a co-operative environment. We will support your child in becoming resilient, independent, and confident. Within the classroom and local community children will be provided with the means to communicate effectively and have their voice heard. We love to take on a challenge in the Purple Room and encourage children to use their growth mindset to reach their full potentials. They will experience attainment and achievement through individual target setting. We will experience positive learning opportunities that are relevant, meaningful and enjoyable. We believe mistakes are proof of trying and we encourage this positive thinking in our classroom. Practice makes better!

The ASC Gathering where we celebrate ‘Child of the Week’ is on a Monday afternoon.

We will have outdoor play on a Friday afternoon, so please ensure your child has a change of clothes, waterproof suits and wellies.

In our Topic learning, your child will be exploring the story ‘We are Going on a Bear Hunt’. We will be looking at light and dark. Thinking about recognition of different places, objects and people working together on activities.

Over this year your child will be introduced to a wide variety of sports and physical activities as well as learning about healthy eating and promoting healthy lifestyles. Gym will be on a Tuesday and Friday, we would appreciate it if the children would wear their gym kit to school on those days.

We will be going to the library every second Thursday

Showcase is on Wednesday  2nd October at 1.30-2.30 in the sensory garden (weather permitting). It will be a stay and play with a teddy bears picnic.

In the Purple room we have high expectations for behaviour and build on our friendships daily. With help from you at home and by following our school values and class charter, we know this year is going to be an amazing one!
