Spring Concert

A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along to support our musicians at the annual Spring Concert.  The audience were treated to a wide variety of performances from all of our school bands.

The audience were also had a sneak preview of the Byre Theatre-bound “Darien”, written and arranged by Mr Robb and Mr McNicol.

Well done to all of our performers and staff for putting together a great programme.

Centenary Music Competition success

Congratulations to Katie Hardie (voice) on being placed first in the annual Centenary Music Competition.  In its 25th year, musicians from Bell Baxter, Waid Academy and Madras College competed to win the prestigious trophy.

Nine of our musicians competed in the Centenary Music Competition with Lana Bain (violin) also receiving great feedback from Adjudicator, Mandy Miller.

Well done to everyone who took part in the competition.

 

Spring Concert

Our annual Spring Concert will be held in the school on the evening of Wednesday, 3rd April beginning at 7pm.

This concert will showcase our musical ensembles such as Wind Band, Strings Group, Pipe Band, Ceilidh Band, Tin Whistle Group and  Rock bands.  These performances will be supported by a fine selection of solo performers.

The audience will also be treated to a sneak peek from the cast of our upcoming musical “Darien: The Commonplace Book of Murdo MacFarlane”.

Tea and coffee will be served by the “Darien” cast during the interval.

Tickets can be bought at the door and are priced at Adult (£4), Child/Concession (£3) and Family ticket (£12).

Fife Schools Burns Competition

Our pupils had some great results at this weekend’s Fife Schools’ Burns Competition held at Waid Academy.  The following pupils won prizes:

S1/2 Bagpiping – 1st, Owen Stark
S1/2 Vocal – 2nd, Helen Black
S1/2 Instrumental – 2nd, Helen Black
S1/2 Recitation – 2nd, Ella McGeorge

Although not placed, ‘well done’ to Samantha Ellis who competed well in the S1/2 Vocal category.

Winners will now be going on to compete in the Scottish final in Irving this coming weekend.
