As part of our talking and listening this term, we have each been asked to give a talk about our dream job. We had to include specific things, including the school subjects which would be useful, other skills which would be helpful, where we could do this job and what kind of activities it involves. SO far we’ve heard from budding artists, horse riding instructors, policemen, game developers, computer programmers, big game vets and a big game fisherman in the Mediteranean!! We look forward to hearing the last few talks tomorrow. A lot of hard work and preparation has been put in at home and some excellent powerpoint presentations accompanied some of the talks.

P5-7EM Outdoor collaborative learning
We enjoyed some outdoor learning with Isi Oakley for our Developing Young workforce topic. She had lots of games for us which developed collaborative learning, listening skills and team work. It was a great session and it really pushed some of us out of our comfort zones!!
P5-7 EM Archaeologists excavating……
P5-7 EM had a strange challenge to finish our Stone Age to Iron Age topic- turning to archeology, excavating Stone Age poop! Each pair were given two poops and had to excavate each and note what they found, they could also use the Dinolite microscopes to see close up on the laptop screen. Once they had noted and counted what was in each poop they had to use this evidence to discuss and decide which was from the Palaeolithic period, when they were hunter gatherers and which was from the Neolithic period, when they had started farming!
P1-4EM enjoying movement, music and drama!
The children have been enjoying taking part in the Let’s Move programme from the BBC based on the Enormous Turnip story. Lots of listening work and working with a partner or as part of a group! 
We will be developing this into thinking about how Dragons move now, to fit in with our Zog topic!
Bronze Age discovery!!

had a visit from Donald Macsween from Scalpay today, who told us about a Bronze Age torc he and his fishing partner brought up in their nets. They thought it was a piece of electrical cable and tossed it aside. One evening his fishing partner was watching the Antiques Roadshow and saw something similar- so they took it to Glasgow to have it valued. It turned out to be pure gold and worth a considerable amount. It is currently in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh where you can see it! It’s thought to have come from the wreck of a Viking ship carrying a Norwegian Princess! We really appreciate Donald taking the time to come and tell us his amazing Bronze Age story!! P1-4EM enjoying Zog by Julia Donaldson
We have been enjoying reading the book Zog by Julia Donaldson. We have been learning about rhyming words and enjoyed some challenges to write as many words as we could of a particular rhyming pattern on a white board, whilst P1 had to look at strips of rhyming words and spot the odd one out. P3 and P4 were busy skimming and scanning the text of Zog and highlighting all the pairs of rhyming words they could find!
Stone Age to Iron Age art projects P-7E
Here are some examples of the excellent art work produced by the pupils in P5-7E throughout our Stone Age to Iron Age topic. We used a variety of different skills and techniques, clay to create stone age jewellery and stone arrow heads, oil pastels to create texture on our wooly mammoth observational drawings, charcol and chalk to design our cave paintings, string and foam to create relief patterns on our bronze age beakers and axeheads and we worked in pairs to create 3D Iron age homes!!
