We were visited by civil engineers who taught us about flood risk. We tested grass, forest, tarmac and soil to find out which would be the best at retaining water and preventing flood. To the different types of land we added 1L of water to our land to see what would happen. We noticed that the forrest / grass land absorbs the most water. Forest – 16ml, grass – 17ml, soil – 20ml, Tarmac – 30ml
We used the outdoor environment to find symmetrical shapes and then created symmetrical images of our own. Robyn, Ellie and April were very creative by creating a snow scene using twigs, pebbles, tinsel and a cone.
We began learning some Mandarin last week – the numbers 1-10. We listened to a catchy song then tried to match the numbers to the Ping Ying and then the character. It was a challenge but we managed it!
