Dressing For Excellence

Given that there is substantial parental and public approval of uniform, schools in East Renfrewshire are free to encourage the wearing of school uniform.

Our colours at Thornliebank Primary and ELCC are gold and black.

Indoor P.E. – Pupils should wear, for their own safety, a standard gym kit comprising of black shorts and the school polo shirt. Soft shoes (black slip on, velcro or lacing sandshoes) are encouraged as opposed to training shoes as this allows for more flexibility during gymnastics. This kit should be in school for all indoor gym days.

Outdoor P.E. in the M.U.G.A.  – Pupils should wear black joggers or shorts, school polo shirt and a black sweatshirt  or jumper along with suitable non slip trainers or sandshoes. A school rain jacket or fleece may be worn during colder months.

Items of clothing displaying football colours or inappropriate slogans or adverts are not permitted.

Items of jewellery that are liable to cause injury if caught or torn such as hoop, dangling or large earrings (small plain stud or sleeper earrings only should be worn in school) or large necklaces and rings should not be worn in school.

All jewellery should be removed before gym unless a parental disclaimer slip has been signed for small sleeper or stud earrings to be worn.
