DRESSING FOR EXCELLENCE

Given that there is substantial parental and public approval of uniform, schools in East Renfrewshire are free to encourage the wearing of school uniform.

Our colours at Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Thornliebank gold and black. 

**There is a tartan tie for pupils of Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Thornliebank that is different to the tie across the rest of the school. This can be purchased from the school.**

The rest of the uniform is the same apart from the Gaelic logo.

Pupils in Clas 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 

  • black skirt or trousers 
  • gold school polo shirt or white shirt with the school tie.  
  • black sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan
  • black school shoes

All pupils in Primary 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 should have a shirt and tie to wear for certain events such as photographs and services.

Pupils in Clas 6 & 7 

  • black skirt or trousers 
  • white shirt with the school tie
  • black jumper or cardigan
  • black school shoes

All pupils in Clas 6 & 7 should have a school polo shirt for P.E.

All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with the child’s name or initials.

Indoor P.E. – Pupils should wear, for their own safety, a standard gym kit comprising of black shorts and the school polo shirt. Soft shoes (black slip on, velcro or lacing sandshoes) are encouraged as opposed to training shoes as this allows for more flexibility during gymnastics. This kit should be in school for all indoor gym days.

Outdoor P.E. in the M.U.G.A.  – Pupils should wear black joggers or shorts, school polo shirt and a black sweatshirt  or jumper along with suitable non slip trainers or sandshoes. A school rain jacket or fleece may be worn during colder months.

Items of clothing displaying football colours or inappropriate slogans or adverts are not permitted.

Items of jewellery that are liable to cause injury if caught or torn such as hoop, dangling or large earrings (small plain stud or sleeper earrings only should be worn in school) or large necklaces and rings should not be worn in school.

All jewellery should be removed before gym unless a parental disclaimer slip has been signed for small sleeper or stud earrings to be worn.

No make up should  be worn in school.
