School Uniform – Dressing for Excellence

In East Renfrewshire, we strive to achieve our vision of ‘Everyone Attaining, Everyone Achieving through Excellent Experiences’ in all that we do. School uniform/ dress codes is an important way of reinforcing this drive for excellence.  At St John’s our school uniform plays a very important part in maintaining the high standards that we expect of our pupils in all aspects of school life.

School Uniform  – Dressing for Excellence.

Please bear in mind when purchasing uniform over the coming months the authority policy on uniform. As you know we are very fortunate in St. John’s to have a high levels of pupils wearing full school uniform.  A few points to consider:

  • When purchasing new school shoes, please ensure that they are suitable black school shoes and not trainers.
  • Skirts should be of an acceptable modest length.
  • P6 and P7 should wear their shirt and tie every day. The polo shirt should only be worn as part of their PE kit. In P1 to P5 shirts or polo shirts are acceptable. However, I would encourage you to find a balance, whereby your child wears a polo shirt on gym days (as this does make the task of changing for PE much easier) and a shirt and tie at all other times.
  • Blazers are encouraged to be worn at all times. I would ask that any blazers which could be recycled should be handed into school.

The School Uniform consists of:

  • Grey trousers or skirt
  • Blue shirt with our school tie or our yellow polo-shirt
  • Navy blue sweatshirt or grey knitwear

Gym Kit:

  • Dark shorts or tracksuit bottoms
  • School polo-shirt
  • Trainers or sandshoes
  • No jewellery – earrings should be removed on gym days
