National Entitlement Cards for P7 Pupils Entering S1 in August 2014

Secondary school pupils now all have a National Entitlement Card, which replaced the Young Scot card and is used for library and cashless catering in secondary school.

Forms will be issued to Primary 7 pupils that are to be completed and signed by their parent/carer. The majority of the form will be pre-populated with pupils’ details.

Following the success of last year’s arrangements, Customer First will organise a suitable date over March and Ajpril to take pupils’ photgraphs in the primary school to attach to their application.

The secondary school will  give out the cards to pupils in  August 2014.

Seasons For Growth Programme

Seasons for Growth is a change, loss and grief education programme for children who have suffered loss through bereavement, divorce or separation. It supports young people as they work in a group to understand and learn the skills to manage the issues they experience when death, separation, divorce or other major changes occur in their lives. We will be running a Seasons for Growth Group here in Our Lady of the Missions over the coming months. In previous years it has proved to be a highly successful way of equipping children with relevant skills to cope with different types of loss. For full information and details of information session for parents- see link to letter below.

Newsletter – 4th November 2013

Dear Parent/Carer

October devotions and Rosary were very well attended throughout the month, organised by our staff Liturgy Group. Thanks to Mrs Baird, Mr Docherty and Miss Kane for leading the children during lunch times. We are now in the month of November offering our prayers as a school community for those whom we know who have died, entrusting them to God’s heavenly care. Day of Prayer and Fasting for Syria Saturday 7th September 2013

Pope Francis had designated tomorrow as a day of prayer and fasting for Syria.

Fr Jim Duggan will have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament following 6pm Vigil Mass in St. Joseph’s Church until 10.00pm.

Please remember the people of Syria in your prayers. If you can spare 15 minutes tomorrow evening, please go along to St. Joseph’s.

 Thank you,

 Charles Jamieson

 Head Teacher

Newsletter June 2013

Once again we look back at what has been a very busy and exciting session for the staff and pupils here at Our Lady of the Missions Primary School.

 Confirmations
This final term began with the Confirmation of our Primary Seven pupils at St. Vincent Church and St. Mirin’s Cathedral. Both masses were very moving and spiritual occasions for all who took part.

Our recent Leavers’ Mass was a most uplifting service. The children’s singing was outstanding! Special mention to our musicians, Mairead McGrotty and James Gallagher from P7 assisted by Lewis and Rachel Murphy and Kathleen O’Hara, all former pupils. Now we look forward to the Leavers’ Ceilidh on Monday night. Thanks to the PSA for funding this lovely evening, and thanks to Mrs Young and Mrs Doherty who made the corsages and buttonholes for the children. Continue reading Newsletter June 2013
