Lockers – New S5 and New S6

New S5 and New S6 Pupils
Pupils in the New S5 and New S6 are required to clear their current lockers by the end of this term to allow space for the New S1 to be allocated lockers when they arrive in August. New S5 and New S6 pupils will also be allocated new lockers in August.

Pupils should return their locker key to the school office by the end of term at which time their £10 deposit will be returned. Any lockers that are not emptied by the end of term will be emptied during the summer break and their contents retained for collection in August.  Any pupil who does not return their locker key by the end of term will not receive their £10 deposit as this will be used to purchase a new key.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

The Social Subjects faculty are honoured to welcome Holocaust survivor Harry Bribing to speak to S2 pupils on Thursday 16th February. Harry is travelling from London to share his personal testimony with us. Mr Bribing’s presentation will be delivered to S2 pupils during period 1, 2 and morning interval. S2 pupils will then have a delayed morning interval before returning to their period 3 class.

 About Harry Bibring

Harry was born on 26th December 1925 in Vienna, Austria. After the Anschluss in 1938, Harry was arrested and forced, along with his family, to leave his flat and live in a house with 50 other Jewish women and children. Harry’s family intended to flee to Shanghai but Harry’s father was robbed on his way to buy the tickets.

In November 1940, Harry’s father died of a heart attack. His mother was deported to the death camp at Sobibor in Poland in 1942. Harry and his sister managed to flee to England on the Kindertransport. When they arrived in England they were greeted by Mr Landsman, who Harry’s father had arranged to act as their sponsor and had offered to shelter the children but it turned out there was no room for Harry and the two were separated.

In May 1945 Harry met his wife-to-be; Muriel and they married two years later. He went on to work for 20 years as a manufacturing engineer and later became a lecturer at Middlesex University. Harry continues to live in England. He has one son, Michael and two grandchildren, Lee and Nikki.

The Lego History Club are pleased to unveil their first Famous Moment in Lego of 2017!  All pupils can take part in this competition by guessing which historical event has been recreated using Lego.  Any guesses should be passed to a Social Subjects teacher and all the correct answers will be entered into the prize draw to win a £15 i-tunes voucher.  The Lego History Club meet every Monday lunchtime in F9.  New members are always welcome, just bring along your lunch and any ideas you have.
