National Parent Forum of Scotland – Newsletter

Welcome to the latest edition of our e-newsletter.

It’s May now and officially summer! …usually our thoughts are on bank holiday weekends with the faint glimmer of hope that the weather will be nice and we can get outdoors and meet up with friends and family, maybe visit the seaside or have a barbeque.

Obviously that’s not on the cards right now which is still difficult to accept despite this being the sixth week of lockdown.

NPFS continues to work closely with the Scottish Government and others to provide clear, relevant information for parents and carers, and also as a way to ask the government for answers to the questions parents send us.

Deputy First Minister said on STV on Thursday evening “We are not asking parents to replace teachers, we are not asking parents to run a formal day of education in the house, what we are asking them to do is support their young people to engage in learning….” and the NPFS is in complete agreement with this. Do what you can with your children to utilise the learning opportunities coming from your schools, but do them in a way that is helpful to you and your children. Families must prioritise the individual needs of their children every day and do what they need to do to keep them feeling happy and secure.

Please look at our facebook and twitter feeds for interesting stories and resources from our partner organisations. If you don’t do social media we also have these on new pages on our website www.npfs.org.uk
