Childsmile at IMFC

Starting from Academic year 2016/2017 consent for toothbrushing is no longer required.

Childsmile is a national programme designed to improve the oral health of children in Scotland. Research tells us that brushing at least twice per day with fluoride toothpaste can help prevent tooth decay.

To support this, Childsmile has developed a national daily supervised toothbrushing programme to take place in the nursery or school setting, in addition to brushin at home.

For more information please visit www.child-smile.org

Letters will be issued home to all parents today with information about the programme and about ‘negative consent’. Your child will be enrolled in the toothbrushing programme automatically at IMFC. You do not need to do anything.

HOWEVER, if you DO NOT WISH YOUR CHILD TO TAKE PART in the Childsmile programme, we would ask that you kindly put this in writing. You can of course change your mind at any point thereafter.

If you have any further questions please contact the Childsmile Team on 0141 211 9590.

Shoe Bags

All children attending Isobel Mair Family Centre have previously been allocated a coloured shoe bag to co-ordinate with their key group colour. The number of bags have dwindled over time and we no longer have enough bags to go around.

Last year we replaced missing or damaged bags using nursery funds. The bags work out fairly expensive and as part of our efficiency savings we have decided it is no longer viable to replace bags year on year.

We are asking all parents to provide a bag for their child this year from the start of the new term.

Please ensure your child’s bag is named and all items inside are also named. The usual items should be accessible in the bag i.e. a change of clothing, soft shoes and wellington boots etc.

Your child will be allocated a numbered peg on their first day and should place the bag on the appropriate peg. We ask that parents take the bag home at the end of each session to free up space in the hallways.

Many Thanks

Letters have been sent out to all parent’s to inform of a recent staff change.

Superhero Smoothies

The children have all been working really hard to plan our upcoming Superhero themed fundraising event!

They have thought about their favourite healthy fruit ingredients, looked at recipe books, designed their own smoothies and even thought of catchy names for their drinks.

Please bring your purses along on Friday to purchase a handmade fresh fruit smoothie from our Superhero Smoothie Stall. Remind your child to dress up as their favourite Superhero too.

We are fundraising in support of Cash for Kids. Please click below or copy and paste the link in to your browser to read more about the excellent work carried out by all at Clyde 2:
