New Outdoor Resource
IMFC Nature Nurture Project
In March 2016 the Family Centre made an application to the Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme and were DELIGHTED to discover that our application was chosen by the shortlisting panel!
We went on to win third prize for our project and were awarded £8000.
Work began on the ground at the start of the New Year and today children from the Family Centre and from Isobel Mair School had first dibs on the new embankment slide.
We are sure this new resource will create fun and laughter for many years to come! Children are developing a wide array of skills whilst accessing this new resource including climbing, balancing, risk assessing, safety, sharing, turn taking, hand/eye co-ordination, spatial awareness, team work, perseverance in addition to developing core strength and body awareness, muscle tone development not to mention fun and laughter!
Have a look for yourself 🙂
Tesco Bags of Help Grant News!
Tesco supermarket teamed up with Green Space Scotland to launch it’s Bags of Help initiative which saw grants awarded to local projects – all raised from the 5p carrier bag charge.
Isobel Mair Family Centre submitted an application to the Tesco Bags of Help grant scheme in December and we were thrilled to discover we had been nominated for an award.
This week we can share the tremendous news that we have been awarded……….
£8000!!
We are just thrilled to have been chosen by Tesco customers to receive such an amazing amount of money which will be spent on making improvements to our outdoor learning space.
Many ideas were generated for the application and we are hoping to take these ideas forward. The children are all on board with ideas for their space and we would like parent’s to have a say too.
We have spoken with some parent’s who have ‘registered an interest’ in joining a working party to help move forward with our ambitious plans for upgrading the outdoor environment. Please let your child’s key worker know if you are interested in joining the group.
Thank you to everybody who voted for us!
Tesco Bags of Help Grant Award
IMFC Nature Nurture Project
We recently made an application to the Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme and are DELIGHTED to discover that our application has been considered by the shortlisting panel and we have been chosen to receive a grant!!
Tesco have told us that the competition for funding has been very fierce and only projects with the strongest fit with the programme criteria and outcomes have been selected. Our project along with the other two successful projects in our region have gone forward to a public vote in Tesco stores with customers deciding the outcome.
The project with the highest public vote will receive £12,000, the second placed project £10,000 and the third placed project £8,000.
Voting has ‘gone live’ and time is running out to cast your vote to ensure we win top prize!! You can cast your vote by posting a red token into the collection post at Tesco Barrhead or Tesco Express Newton Mearns. Voting draws to an end on Sunday 6th March – so PLEASE pop along to Tesco and help support the Family Centre as we try to further develop our grounds for learning with our ‘Nature Nurture’ project.
To help publicise our efforts even more why not share with your friends and encourage them to vote for us too?
You could take a photo of you and/or your child posting their voting token and Tweet us @IsobelMairFC to let us know!! Use the #BagsofHelp in your tweet to let @Tesco_Scotland know we are getting busy!!
We can’t wait to see your photographs 🙂
