Mrs Todd’s Last Day

I’m quite sure all our children, parents and visitors to the Family Centre can see Mrs Todd is ready to leave us!

Her ‘baby bump’ is growing daily.

Mrs Todd will finish as Depute Head of IMFC on Friday 20th February to begin three weeks of annual leave before starting her maternity leave. Baby Todd is due on the 16th of March and I am sure you will all join us in wishing Mrs Todd and her family well.

We will let you know in due course who will be replacing Mrs Todd in position of temporary Depute Head in due course.

Welcome Back News

We hope you have had a wonderful October break – welcome back to all!

Please note some changes – we have tried our best to inform everyone personally; however sometimes it can be difficult to catch each and every parent/carer.

Siobhan Barron (who has been taking the blue group in place of Miss March who is on secondment) successfully takes up a new position as Child Development Officer within Isobel Mair School following interviews prior to October holidays. Congratulations to Siobhan, we wish you every happiness in your new post.

The blue group will now be led by Child Development Officer Miss Hannah Dewhurst who has been working in our Balta and Lamba playrooms over recent months. Hannah will be replaced by Miss Linsay Thomson who will commence her employment within the Family Centre on Tuesday 21st October.

We also welcome back Miss Emma McManus, who has returned to the Family Centre following maternity leave. Emma is a Modern Apprentice and will be supporting children within the Cara playroom.

If you have any questions about any of the recent changes – please come and speak with Donna or Joanne.

Many Thanks.

Mrs. Wallace’s Announcement

Just in case you have missed the letter that was issued on 13th August:

Mrs. Wallace would like everyone to know that she has decided to retire at Christmas. Mrs. Wallace says it has been her privilege to be Head Teacher of Isobel Mair School for 10 years and more recently Head of the Family Centre and, although she absolutely loves her job, she feels that this is now a good time to leave to give her more time to do other things she enjoys.

The post of Head Teacher will be advertised in the forthcoming months and Mrs. Wallace will keep us all informed of what is happening.

Mrs. Wallace thanks everyone for their continued support which is greatly appreciated by herself and all the staff.

Isobel Mair School and Family Centre Education Scotland Report – Hot off the Press

As many parents and carers are aware we had very special visitors at the school and family centre just before the end of term.

The visitors came from Education Scotland and from the Care Inspectorate to look at every aspect of the school and the service the family centre provides.

We are extremely proud of our report and hope you will be too.

To read the report in full please visit the Education Scotland website by clicking this link:

Settling In

All returning children are now back with us and are settling back in to the nursery routine.

Our new children, for the most part joined us last week and they are being supported by staff on a daily basis as required to ensure quick and secure settling.

More new children are due to start over the coming weeks.

For all parents and carers – we ask that if you have any queries, comments or concerns about settling your child in to the Family Centre (or any other general queries) please come and ask.

Although you will quickly come to see the nursery is a very busy place we ALWAYS have time to speak to you.
